What Could These Extra 2025 Cadillac Escalade Cameras Be For?

Primed to make its official debut for the upcoming model year, the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade will be highlighted by various updates to the exterior, interior, and powertrain. GM Authority expert photographers have already captured photos of several prototypes doing the rounds out on public streets. However, they recently grabbed pictures of an Escalade ESV unit sporting extra cameras in the windshield as compared to other examples we’ve covered. This begs the question, what could be the intention behind these additional cameras?
There are a few potential answers to this inquiry, including a next-generation GM Super Cruise (or what was to become GM Ultra Cruise) or additional and unannounced active safety features. Whatever the purpose is, it’s certainly not difficult to spot the extra cameras when facing the luxury full-size SUV head-on.
It’s worth noting that there are also smaller cameras fitted to the outside mirror stands.
As a reminder, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade is underscored by a fresh exterior design, which includes the reworked front fascia. On both Escalade prototypes above, we can spot the new lighting arrangement that features thin, upper horizontal turn signals and prominent, vertically stacked headlights and daytime running lamps, as well as a new dual-level grille design that combines a large trapezoidal upper intake with a slimmer lower piece.
Around back, outside of updated inner taillight cluster graphics, the rear fascia also receives a slimmer chrome strip below the rear window, a chrome liftgate garnish and reshaped exhaust outlets.
Moving to the cabin, the interior now features a full-width, pillar-to-pillar infotainment display similar to that of the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ and uber-luxurious Cadillac Celestiq.
Under the hood, the revised full-size SUV boasts a familiar powertrain lineup, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. However, the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax will replace the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax for the new model year.
Under the skin, the refreshed Escalade will continue to be underpinned by the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

It’s Ultra Cruise, that extra camera is the Ultra Cruise Camera and solid State LiDAR setup the Celestiq has.
If you look at recent videos during Mary’s interviews or even in a Top Gear Video when they had a tour of the vehicle you can see that they are indeed the same.
Exactly, the name ultracruise was dropped but the tech continues to be developed.
Several large Cadillac dealers are reporting the LZO diesel will now not be offered on the 2025 Escalade. GM Authority should be more current on this development. Where are you guys? GM cites lack of demand, but I’m calling BS given GM Authority (and others) have reported GM’s diesel-powered SUV’s remain on dealer lots only a short time. I just received my LM2-powered Escalade after about a two year wait! There’s more to this story.
That is correct, there will not be a diesel available for 2025 Escalade
IMO they still haven’t nailed the design for the Escalade for this generation, and it’s sad.
This front end looks extra narrow, as if they are trying to make it look slim.
The previous/current design didn’t look great in the front end, seemingly too top end heavy.
The 2 previous Gen Escalades from 2007 and then again 2016 on, were fantastic looking for their time, and still hold up well, and the 2016 forward design looks better than the current imo.
Obviously the interiors and independent suspension makes the new Gen far superior, but the Escalade also stood out on classy, athletic, luxurious simple looks, and this generation hasn’t found the right design mix to make it as iconic.
@Lutziagod: Agreed.
If I could have an Escalade from 2016-2019 (that was mated to the Gen 3 CTS) and that has the current generation’s interior and technology, that would be the winning ticket!
There is something about the looks of the current generation that just seems off kilter.
Data harvesting. It goes hand in hand with onboard 5G.
Dash Cams or “traffic recorders” are now a common OEM accessory outside of the United States.

Im sorry about your diesel escalade future hopes. Better hold on to this one!
The take rate is about 0.2% for the diesel option, which is why they are dropping it. Thats “point o two” percent, not 2 percent.
I agree also that the front end of this generation and the refresh is perhaps a little underwhelming. However the rest of the truck is not and still remains the full size luxury suv to beat. The BMW X7 has been the closets sales competitor, however I do not consider it a “Truck” imo.
0.2% is not even close. My dealership is about 20 to 30% diesel
Maybe a self-fulfilling prophecy? If you don’t build them, you won’t sell them. There’s something wrong with this picture. I tried on numerous occasions to buy an Escalade diesel from dealer inventory listed on Cadillac.com, but they were always sold. Available diesel inventory at Cadillac was always almost non-existent anyway, and I spent a fair bit of time trying to find one in dealer inventory. Was even willing to purchase from dealers thousands of miles away. Admittedly, there was better diesel SUV availability at GMC & Chevrolet. Betting the Wizards of Smart running Cadillac think diesel power doesn’t comport with their all-EV vision, so a fait accompli.
Thats suprising, what state us that dealer in? That must be a record….hopefully all of these diesel buyers leased LOL
Well, there is another angle. Manufacturers build a portion of the inventory as they please ( aka easiest for them) that you see on dealer lots. The other portion is allocated to the dealers. This allocation is typically rewared for dealer performance. Then, there is a manager at the dealer that builds the allocated cars. Many dealerships have not been able to build enough escalades to even keep on the lot since 2021. So for a manager to choose to build a diesel over say ,a Black/Black Sport 6.2 gas w/ touring , onyx pack, and rse, is asking to lose their job…..
