This Cadillac Ecto-1 Replica Packs A Supercharged LS3 V8: Video

As GM Authority has reported on several times in the past, the iconic 1959 Cadillac Ecto-1 from the original Ghostbusters film is a popular vehicle to make real-life replicas of. But what happens when you need to engage in a high-speed chase of paranormal entities that requires more power than what a V8 from 1959 can muster? Who ya gonna call?

Australian hot-rodder Nathan Clark, that’s who. He’s the mastermind behind this 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor, which has been thoroughly modified to be more than just a show car. Outside of the obvious Ghostbusters aesthetic touches, the engine bay is packed full of supercharged goodness.

Stuffed under the hood lies a 6.2L V8 LS3 gasoline engine that boasts an extensive build sheet by itself, including Boostline connecting rods, JE forged pistons, and Bosch 1000-cc injectors. Strapped on top is a Harrop TVS2300 supercharger, which pushes output north to the tune of 550 horsepower. Everything is managed by Haltech’s Rebel LS ECU and three PD16 PDMs.

To assist the blown LS3 in propelling the roughly 6,000-pound car down the road, a Hughes Performance 4L80 GM four-speed automatic transmission pairs with a Ford nine-inch rear end to drive output to the ground.

For a quick background on the Caddy model itself, a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis is fitted with a Miller-Meteor ambulance body to create the iconic look. There’s a common misconception that the Ecto-1 the Ghostbusters drove in the 1984 film was based on a hearse, but it was really an ambulance.

It’s hard to deny that this build is anything but cool. For those who wish to keep up with Nathan Clark’s Ecto-1 replica, be sure to click here.

It’s worth noting that although this particular replica isn’t up for sale as of this writing, a similar Ecto-1 sold for $220,000 back in 2021. Interestingly, that replica featured a 390 cubic-inch V8, which likely produced much less grunt than this LS3-powered unit does.
