Among the palette of available exterior paint colors offered on the 2024 Chevy Colorado pickup, Sand Dune Metallic was first added in 2021 as an option for the Z71 and ZR2 trims only, while Glacier Blue Metallic joined the lineup for the all-new 2023 model. Now, both colors can no longer be ordered on the 2024 Colorado.
GM Authority has learned that Glacier Blue Metallic (color code GLT) and Sand Dune Metallic (color code GTL) cannot be ordered any longer on the 2024 Chevy Colorado.
Specifically, Glacier Blue will be built out during the week of August 12th, while Sand Dune will be built out during the week of August 19th. A third exterior color, Nitro Yellow Metallic (color code ), similarly became unavailable to order in mid-March 2024, a year after its 2023 model year introduction. Nitro Yellow has been built out since April 15th, 2024.
Since Colorado pickup trucks can no longer be ordered in these colors, anyone who wants a Glacier Blue Metallic or Sand Dune Metallic 2024 Chevy Colorado will now have to settle for units available on dealer lots. It’s unclear at this time whether one or all of these colors will return for the 2025 model year, though this appears unlikely.
Following the latest changes, the remaining colors that can be ordered on the 2024 Colorado include the following five exterior paints:
- Black (GBA)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Harvest Bronze Metallic (GXN)
Start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Colorado was recently pushed back six weeks to December 12th, 2024 instead of the originally slated October 28th.
As a reminder, motivation is supplied to the 2024 Chevy Colorado by two powerplant choices, specifically the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine developing 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine providing output of 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
The updated 31XX-2 platform provides structure beneath the Chevy Colorado’s sheet metal. Production of the pickup takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Just another blow to the success of these twins. gm has botched so many aspects of this project, something GM would not have stood for.
limit colors to earth tones only furthers profit margins as reds and blues cost too much. As to the recent proliferation of lightly shaded hues, grey, whites and silvers
Killed off 3 colors and Harvest Bronze survived the axe. Speechless.
The only colors that should have been eliminated was Nitro Yellow and Harvest Bronze……
I didn’t think Sand Dune Metallic would be a color I’d love, but I saw a Colorado in that color a couple of days ago and it looked sharp! It was a head-turner. So of course GM is getting rid of it lol.
1500 miles on my “Summit White” ZR2 and I absolutely love it. Lack of a power rear window is literally my only complaint. And I can’t say enough great things about the TurboMax 2.7. it’s amazing! And I’m “all around” averaging 20.5 mpg, far above the sticker 17/17.
That’s really good for a ZR2 for fuel economy. Part of the reason I didn’t want a ZR2 this time around was because 17 all around was so poor for a turbo 4 cylinder.
“You can have any color you like as long as it’s refrigerator white or gray.”
Mary “Henry Ford” Barra…..
I have had many, many compliments on the color of my 23 Sand Dune Canyon, Didn’t think I would like it, but it has grown on me. I guess we can get Baby S#$t Yellow (Gold)
The sand one looked really and fit the bison theme well the blue I can take or leave. Here’s more black and gray guys
I special ordered my 23 z71 in nitro yellow and so thankful I did. I don’t understand why they are limiting the colors as it might drive people to buy other brands. People like the color choices and many people are buying bright colors like the yellow and glacier blue. I guess we will see.
They will announce new colors for 2025 to replace most if not all 3 of them. People taste in colors change every couple of years, so manufactures are always changing them everey couple of years.
Gm does this every year on all their cars. More than likely the a new blue will come out and possibly another shade of sand dune. I bet you will see the Slate Gray color you see on the Silverado be available next year.
GMA will have a new story in the comming months with the new colors available for 2025. All manufactures go by what colors are projected to be popular. There is a exception on cars like the corvette or exotic cars.
Black, White, Gray, Silver…. Automakers have gotten so boring, blah blah blah.
I wonder if we will see a similar situation to the silverado/sierra where they bring in a different shade of blue for the new model year
Love my 2024 Sand Dune ZR2 Bison. I have gotten a lot of complaints on this truck.
I just bought the Nitro Yellow and I love it. Saw it on the lot and went straight to it. People are always telling me how great it looks.
I live in TN and seems the dealers only want to order 90% of all trucks in white? Like to see more colors!
At least you can find one, of any color.
I actually wish they didn’t cancel the Sand Dune Metallic. I wanted that color. I’ll have to pick something else.
