The 2024 Cadillac Escalade is the fourth model year of the luxury SUV’s fifth generation and the final year before the rollout of the vehicle’s mid-cycle refresh with the upcoming 2025 Cadillac Escalade.
The refresh, which includes updates and revisions to the exterior of the Escalade, will likely feature changes to the available paint palette. Now GM Authority has learned that several 2024 Cadillac Escalade paint colors are built out and no longer available to order, including:
- Black Diamond Tricoat (GLK)
- Dark Emerald Metallic (G6N)
- Dark Moon Blue Metallic (GLU)
- Sandstone Metallic (GJW)
It’s unclear if these four paint colors will return for the 2025 model year, but this is highly unlikely. They will probably be replaced with new paint colors and the 2024 Cadillac Escalade will be the final year to feature these specific paints.
Black Diamond Tricoat was introduced for the 2024 model year and was offered exclusively on the 2024 Cadillac Escalade-V and Escalade-V ESV as one of nine colors available on the V-series variant. The Escalade first got Dark Emerald Metallic for the 2023 model year, making it available for two years, while Dark Blue Moon Metallic and Sandstone Metallic debuted with the 2021 launch of the SUV’s fifth generation.
Production of the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade is scheduled to begin on October 7th, 2024, though the date will remain tentative and subject to change until vehicles actually start coming off the assembly line. The refresh includes exterior updates such as vertically stacked headlamps, a reworked front fascia and grille – the latter with trim-level specific finishes – and revisions to other details.
Our spy photographers the spotted the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V interior with no protective camo, confirming a pillar-to-pillar display screen, a multifunction control knob on the center console, and a wealth of other features. We’ve also gotten you exclusive looks at the 2025 Escalade Sport, the Escalade ESV Sport, and the Premium Luxury undisguised.
As regards motivation, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade will drop the 3.0L I6 LM2 diesel Duramax engine developing 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque with no replacement. The LM2 diesel engine was already discontinued for the 2024 Cadillac Escalade, currently unavailable to order and scheduled to be built out on the week of September 16th.
This will leave the regular variant of the 2025 Escalade powered exclusively by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, cranking out 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, will also be offered on the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V.
Both the 2024 and 2025 models of the Escalade are underpinned by the GM T1 platform, while the luxury SUV is produced at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.
There was a time when Cadillacs were available in 21 different exterior paint colors. Now we get excited if there’s more than five. It is pathetic what Cadillac has become.
