The Bow Tie brand positions the Chevy Equinox EV, its second all-electric crossover offering, below the Chevy Blazer EV in terms of exterior dimensions and interior space. Speaking of the latter, GM Authority recently got behind the wheel of a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV unit, and now, we’re taking a closer look at the cabin of the Bow Tie electric crossover.
Alex Luft, Executive Editor of GM Authority, recently got ahold of an Equinox EV outfitted in the range-topping 3RS trim level. Notably, the sporty Equinox EV 2RS will be the first model to launch, followed shortly by the 2LT, 3LT, and 3RS variants.
As the premier model, the 3RS features a healthy list of interior amenities and features, including:
- 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen
- 11-inch diagonal driver information center
- Eight-way power-adjustable driver seat and six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat
- Front heated/ventilated seats and rear outboard heated seats
- Heated flat-bottom steering wheel
- Dual-zone climate control
Of course, there are also a few tech goodies on offer, like an available Head-Up Display and Rear Camera Mirror with rear washer, Bose audio system, sunroof, GM Super Cruise, and the choice of either a Black with Red Accents or Adrenaline Red interior colorway.
It’s worth noting that the RS and LT trims are two sides of the Y trim level strategy. The former is highlighted by black accents, and the latter boasts chrome accents, among other items. Outside of some notable differences, the levels of equipment and content between them are largely identical.
As a reminder, both FWD and eAWD drivetrain configurations are available. The former boasts 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque, and the latter features 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies provide the motivation, while the maximum range currently sits at 319 miles on a full charge.
Under the body panels, the Equinox EV rides on the GM BEV3 platform, while production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Comments
Thanks to Alex for his review of the Equinox EV interior.
Why are the air vents protruding out so far? That’s a poor design and take away from what is a nice layout. Also the speedometer housing doesn’t need to look like a cheap pod stuck on the dash.
Not sure where some of the thinking comes from but pls stop making things look cheap.
The center display is very well done. Looks great and professional
On the vents, I’m more concerned about their range of motion–how much angle can you give them.
On the instrument cluster, at least there’s no tablet attached to the dash like so many cars. Looks like something a teenager would do.
I’m not a fan of round vents period. They look odd, like Chrysler interiors, always something odd looking to take away any coolness of the interior.
Without the Bowtie, that front end screams “Hyundai”.
It has a bowtie on the front, up high.
I’m just glad it isn’t a painted surface up front–rock chip magnet.
I’m surprised by the comments about the door panel comparison to Silverado, because the inside doors are very reminiscent of my 2019 Chevy Colorado LT. As is the material on the closest part of the dash.
I’m a bit less concerned about not having Android Auto because it looks like it’s just an Android Fork. That though won’t satisfy those wanting CarPlay.
My new concern is rear visibility from the driver’s seat. That upward sloping back window area and what looks like maybe a smallish rear window could present visibility problems. Only sitting in the car will tell. That would be a deal killer.
The platform is the Android Automotive (also know as AAOS). Kind of a shame the name is so confusingly similar to Android Auto, and that apps need to be separately validated for the two platforms.
Right now the AAOS app store is fairly sparse, but with a lot of auto manufacturers adopting it I would expect that to change fairly rapidly.
Thank you for that. If only that would be explained a bit better by the automotive press. Apparently this can come with or without some of the other Google features, such as Maps, and GM provides it with. My concern had been it was just something GM cooked up, like how Ford did maybe 10 years ago with their poor system.
One thing I’m still unclear on is Internet connectivity. Can it be done through your phone still, either with a wired connection or a wifi hotspot? Or does it have to be done through Starlink type services?
The vehicles come equipped with a 5G modem and include eight years of navigation (i.e. Google Maps) and voice assistant (Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa) as well as three years of app access (e.g. for streaming media).
You can also tether to a Wi-Fi hotspot (including your phone) if your mobile plan includes it.
So they provide the Maps data for 8 years? I guess Amazon did something like that for the early Kindle devices, although there each use presumably involved the purchase of a book or magazine.
Not using Android Auto would mean that fast charging systems would work on phones (AA used a line necessary for data). I could live with having to turn on my phone’s hotspot, if necessary. That probably could even be automated somehow.
I could live without AA and Car play the native system is probably better anyway and I can download Spotify and Waze the only two apps I really use while driving anyway. I don’t need to read texts, or be constantly on the phone Google maps built in works for me and who knows maybe in the future GM will listen and offer AA and car play again eight years free is a long time most people trade their cars on before that not all but I see a lot of newer models out on roads
Well I watched the video and I like that interior it reminds me of my equinox I own now. Somebody mentioned the air vents they don’t stick out to far once you close the door they fit inside their little cut out of your hitting those with your knees or legs the this car is to small for you, the air vents while being round also turn so either air up and down or side to side I had round air vent years ago in my Pontiac and I miss them not only do they look cool but the functioned just fine. Other then that the screen does not look like it’s tacked on either the Ford lighting screen looks like an after thought oh we need a giant tablet on the dash and finally I like this guy he thinks like me I could care less about most materials I never touch like the top of the dash but the seats and doors and arm rests matter vinyl or what they call it now is good enough for me I don’t like colth especially the new smooth type it attracts dirt like a magnet my leather something spills by cleaning off with a cleaner that’s it done no scrubbing with 3M spray and hoping to stain comes out or the cloth no thanks. In conclusion it’s all a matter of opinion I like this some people obviously won’t but hey that’s why it’s a America and we have choices night everybody!
I’d like to understand how a dedicated EV platform can be so horribly space inefficient. It’s big on the outside, but small on the inside. I could see this being excused on a modified ICE platform, but GM did something dumb here — and there’s no frunk either. Whatever.
The space that would have been in the frunk is actually in the trunk, below the primary load floor. I show it around 26:00 in the video embedded above.
As for space efficiency, I imagine you’re referring to the rake of the windshield and how much space that takes up compared to a more vertical windshield. Beyond that, I found the space in the Equinox is actually pretty good, much more so than Equinox ICE model. Not sure if an ICE platform would be able to handle this kind of battery pack or be made cost effectively.
Mark first off the back is as big as .y equinox now so is the interior and I don’t need a useless look I gotta frunk most of those can maybe hold a few small luggage cases, I’d rather see a frunk on the Silverado EV where it can be big a frunk on this would be small. And when we go on family vacation if we need a lot of room we jump.in the Enclave most family’s have at least two cars. My ICE Equinox has plenty of room for me I don’t want the ICE OR EV Equinox to be bigger I like the size for everyday driving.
Saw this car on display at Costco today. Didn’t see the inside but I thought the exterior was ugly. The ICE Equinox is a clean looking vehicle. I don’t get why all these manufacturers are trying so hard to make EVs look futuristic.
The interior is much like my Sons new Blazer RS. Nothing goofy like the Tesla.
I do wish they had carried over the vents with the temp adjustments as that is a great feature.
Keep the price down and put some real door handles on it and they will do well for a new product in a tough segment,.
The door handles are not going to be fun in a down pour.
hypoer6 I never thought of those door handles in a down pour. Maybe if they opened while you approached the car. Well anyway you know what would be cool the handles on top near the middle B pillars I think that’s what it’s called that’s an old design I think GM had years ago they could bring that back, hey the stalk transmission shifter is back so why not that to.
