Redesigned 2025 BMW X3 Debuts As Cadillac XT5 Rival

The 2025 BMW X3 crossover launches the vehicle’s all-new fourth generation with a slight boost to horsepower and torque, along with an assortment of updated technology and semi-autonomous driving features.

Rivaling the North American variant of the 2025 Cadillac XT5 crossover, the 2025 BMW X3 comes in two models: the 30 xDrive and the higher-performance M50 xDrive. Both feature mild hybrid enhancements to their engines.

The 2025 BMW X3 features an overhauled exterior with updated styling cues similar to the recently redesigned X1 and X2. Its front end retains an exaggerated version of the typical BMW split “kidney” grille. This contrasts with the 2025 Cadillac XT5 in the U.S., which is the ninth model year of the crossover’s first generation and carries forward most earlier styling. An all-new second-gen XT5 has debuted in China with a reworked exterior but will not be sold in the U.S..

The new BMW X3’s interior features a more spacious cabin with up to 67.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first seating row. The cockpit also features a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new interior lighting signatures, and three available colorways. The sport seats are heated and power-adjustable.

Among a long list of tech features and software, the 2025 BMW X3, the crossover can be optioned with the Driving Assistant Professional Package and a related suite of systems that provide semi-autonomous driving in some situations. This includes a parking assistant feature and hands-free driving. By contrast, the Cadillac XT5 is the only Caddy model that will never receive the GM Super Cruise system in America.

The 30 xDrive variant of the new BMW X3 is powered by a twin-turbo 2.0L four-cylinder mild hybrid gasoline engine, developing 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A 3.0L inline-six in the M50 xDrive, meanwhile, cranks out 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. These powerplants outperform the XT5’s two engines, namely the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine providing 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.

Pricing for the 2025 BMW X3 starts at $49,500 plus $1,175 destination fees for the 30 xDrive variant and $64,100 for the M50 xDrive model. The starting MSRP for the 2025 XT5 is estimated at around $45,000.

BMW says the fourth-gen X3 offers “greater sporting appeal, visual impact, and versatility than ever” and is “the dynamic choice for everyday use, weekend adventures, and cross-country journeys.” It is currently slated for launch in Q4 2024.

    1. So buy Chinese cars instead? As in from a company led by a government who is indoctrinating their youth to hate Americans and kill them in the event of a war and “disappears” anyone that criticizes them?

      Atleast the Germans don’t label me, an American, as an enemy and then expects me to do business with them. And Germans can voice their opinions like we Americans can.

  4. I really don’t care for the styling direction BMW is going these days. But atleast I am glad they ditched the beaver teeth grille. Whenever I see an iX in brown it immediately looks like a beaver to me.

    As for the interior, the all encompassing screen just killed the cars character for me. I used to find BMW interiors to be some of the nicest and most appealing with their warm orange interior illumination and nicely laid out switchgear but now with the screen it looks like every other appliance on the road. As much as I hate these all encompassing screens, atleast Mercedes does them in a tasteful way.

  6. It seems BMW do not know which direction take. Every Different model launch, every different confusion of lines tries. There is no harmony or connections. The language seems not a global view in package but each edge done from someone else not speaking together, why an electric car needs a grille which is neither a grille neither has a coeherent form, there are cars running that are simple with less discrepancies here and there, but most are ugly

      This will not have an EV version. The EV will look completely different
      BMW developed a BEV specific platform and the upcoming iX3 will be first most likely. So X3 size but strictly a BEV

  11. Well, contrary to other comments, I like the new BMW X3’s exterior. Until I actually see the interior, I’ll reserve final judgement, but, at least initially, that dash and those colors are a turn off for me. From a handling and performance standpoint, BMW hands down is superior to the current Caddie XT5. Come on gm, bring us a redesigned XT5 to the U.S.

  12. As a classic BMW owner (2001 Z3), I must say the front end and cockpit designs are downright hideous. Whatever happened to good, clean, proportionate, eye-pleasing BMW exterior and interior designs? Did Bangle ruin everything at BMW design?

  13. Viewing numerous videos on Fakebook from mechanics in shops showing how BMW has gone downhill from what they were and with all the oil leakage problems they have….just stick with a U.S. brand. Hoovie’s buddy, the “Wizard”, despises them and makes no secret of it.
