Rare 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Up For Sale In Minnesota

A rare GM vehicle is up for sale at a dealership in Minnesota: a 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe with only 9,460 original miles on its odometer. Offered at $36,990, the vehicle is available to any buyer looking for an eye-catching two-seater fastback coupe to add to their collection.

This 2009 Pontiac Solstice is one of just 1,266 units built for the single model year the GXP Coupe configuration was offered. GM’s bankruptcy and the resultant shuttering of Pontiac permanently ended production of the model.

This particular example appears to be clean and rust-free despite the heavy road salt used during Minnesota winters. It sports a gleaming coat of Mysterious paint, which was what Pontiac called black for the Solstice. It rides on polished aluminum 18-inch wheels. The vehicle has been driven by two different owners over the past decade and a half but has no record of involvement in any accidents.

Interior details include leather bucket seats, a Monsoon sound system with seven speakers, and all of its original controls and interior styling. Technology includes remote keyless entry, power steering, brakes, and windows, cruise control, and automatic headlights. Though unremarkable by today’s standards, these features offer basic convenience while driving.

The 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe is motivated by a turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec LNF four-cylinder engine developing 260 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The drivetrain is standard RWD, and performance suspension is also installed in the coupe as standard. A five-speed manual transmission handles gear swaps.

Interestingly, the asking price for this Pontiac Solstice by the seller, Whitaker Buick GMC in Forest Lake, Minnesota, is within a few hundred dollars of the $36,300 another GXP Coupe sold for in January 2023. That specific vehicle was finished in Aggressive Red paint – just one of twelve units with that color – combined with a black interior. It had 17,000 miles on its odometer when it went up on the auction block at Mecum Auctions.

  1. I recall looking at a Solstice back when they were new in 2006 but didn’t like the tiny rear window and absurdly low seating position so we bought a 1998 BMW Z3 convertible in Impala Brown. Such a gorgeous color and fun car too.

  4. Ed.: That’s a manual transmission pictured, not an automatic as stated.

  5. I was going to buy one of these when they first came out, until I found out that the Targa roof does not fit inside the car and has to be left at home if removed. And it did not come standard with a soft Targa top. Another GM FAIL just like the convertible Solstice/Sky with the all time dumbest top raising and lowering process – it can’t be done from inside the car. And the fact that there isn’t room in it for even a small roller bag (unless one puts it in the passenger foot well), as I found out when I rented one on a trip.

  9. I bought the wife an 08 convertible GXP automatic. She’s put 50,000 miles on it and absolutely loves it. The car is a kick in the ass! Anybody who buys that thing will have a ball In it. Two thumbs up And don’t forget to turn off the traction control!!!!

Not for somebody over 5’10 though”.

  10. This writer needs to fact-check.
That’s a manual transmission. The GXP was offered from 07 to 2010 not just 09. It’s an LNF engine not LNP. Same one used in the Cobalt SS from 08 to 2010.

  11. Love this car! I own a low mileage (7k), 08” convertible, 2.4, automatic with all the upgrades. This car is quick, responsive and an absolute joy to drive. Drive one and you’ll agree. Car featured is worth every nickel. …and yes. Mines for sale. 30k

  12. I have a black ‘07 GXP convertible with 72k miles so I jumped at the chance to buy a black ‘09 GXP coupe with only 3,200 miles (not a typo) on it early this summer. It came with the foldable soft top allowing the hard targa top to remain home during warm weather. I hate to tell all of haters out there that it is a super quick fun ride. We are used to tight quarters, and take the convertible with a luggage rack when we need extra cargo space.
