One-Of-A-Kind Custom Pontiac Aztek For Sale: Photos

Introduced for the 2001 model year, the Pontiac Aztek has long been a controversial topic in the automotive landscape, with most of the conversation centering around its polarizing exterior design. With that in mind, one owner of a 2002 Aztek must’ve felt as though the crossover’s styling just wasn’t unorthodox enough and has since listed it for sale online.

Posted for sale online in Lincoln, IL, it’s hard to deny that this 2002 Pontiac Aztek isn’t one-of-a-kind. By far, the most striking features of this Pontiac crossover are the modifications done to the exterior, which include in-your-face highlights like flame graphics, yellow wheels, Lambo-style scissor doors, and “Short Bus” emblazoned on the liftgate.

Unfortunately, the listing didn’t include any pictures of the interior, but the video does tease a purple and yellow interior colorway with what appears to be a custom audio system.

As for the powertrain, all Aztek models boasted the naturally aspirated 3.4L V6 LA1 gasoline engine, which eked out 185 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque when fresh off the assembly line. Output is routed to the ground via the GM four-speed automatic transmission. Although no engine modifications were mentioned, there does appear to be some sort of custom exhaust system judging by the tailpipes.

With approximately 86,500 miles on the odometer and an asking price of north of $22,000, could you, dear reader, envision yourself picking up this truly unique 2002 Pontiac Aztek? Let us know what you’re thinking, and fire off in the comment section below.

For what it’s worth, the Kelley Blue Book (KBB) value is around the $2,000 ballpark.

As a reminder, the Pontiac Aztek has largely been ridiculed for its styling since it debuted, yet it did gain a cult following with the release of Breaking Bad as Walter White’s ride for the bulk of the series. However, the concept that gave rise to the Aztek – known as the Pontiac Salsa – is actually a fairly cool and interesting prop. Unveiled at the 1992 North American International Auto Show, this concept looked to combine the footprint and drivability of a car with the practicality of a truck bed.

I’d rather daily that Aztek than an EV.

Why though? I’d love to daily an EV, it’s what they excel at. I won’t buy one because they don’t excel on road trips, and I need my car to be able to do both without compromise.

Because I’d be more embarrassed to be seen in an EV.

Aren’t you fragile. Bases car purchase only on what others might think of you.

Psst, most already don’t respect you so you can only improve on that image if you were to start driving an EV.

I’m not sure what part of being seen in an EV could be considered embarrassing …unless said EV was a Cybertruck, perhaps. I feel sorry for you that your ignorance and fragile ego cause you to feel that way. I used to base decisions on what others think too, but then I grew up and learned to think for myself and I’m much happier for it. If someone else isn’t paying whatever I’m buying then they don’t get a voice in my choice to buy it, but hey you do you, I guess.

I had an Aztek 2003, AWD with the single color are the larger 18″ wheels
This was a very practical vehicle, almost van like capacity and the AWD was one of the best on the market, i would rank it right up there with Subaru.
The vehicle was quiet and comfortable ride, and a great daily driver.
I had for 2 years and 195,000k, super reliable and decent economy from the 3.4l V6
It was mis understood and killed by the media, today the Ford Edge and a Mitsubishi crossover help to carry on the styling today without a negative comment!!!
The Pontiac was ahead of its time !!

There are many very bland, maybe not ugly, crossovers on the road today. I don’t know anything about foreign brands but the Ford Flex is pretty ugly.

    Q. How do you make one of the oddest/ugliest-looking vehicles ever made, even worse?
