Meet ‘Corvoucus,’ An LS-Powered Ford Focus On A C5 Corvette Chassis: Video

Engine swaps are one thing, but dropping a new body on an entirely different chassis and drivetrain is something else entirely. Here’s a good example – while an LS-powered Ford Focus riding on a C5 Corvette chassis might sound like a great idea, actually turning it into reality could get a little messy. Nevertheless, one fearless builder managed to create exactly that. Say hello to the “Corvoucus.”

The Corvoucus is a unique custom build created by Ryan Scheer of Scheer Performance, who was inspired by the Global Touring Car Series V8 Focus race car, which features rear-wheel drive and a Ford Coyote 5.0L V8. Scheer’s project, however, took a different approach, combining the body of a 2012 Ford Focus sedan with the chassis, engine, and drivetrain from a C5-generation Chevy Corvette.

Scheer’s journey began with a 2012 Ford Focus sedan, originally equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. The donor vehicle for this ambitious project was a 2001 Chevy Corvette, which cradled the 5.7L V8 LS1 engine and a six-speed manual transmission, albeit with a rebuilt title. Interestingly, both the 2001 Corvette and the 2012 Ford Focus share almost identical wheelbase lengths, measuring in at 104.5 inches and 104.3 inches, respectively, which facilitated the chassis swap.

After extensive modifications and a tremendous amount of effort, Scheer successfully brought his vision to life. The resulting Corvoucus now runs and drives, with Scheer recently showcasing his creation on social media. Watching video of the project, the sound of the LS engine rumbling as the Focus body glides by is nothing short of mind-bending.

Although the Corvoucus is up and running, Scheer notes that there are still some electrical components that need fine-tuning as a result of so many things unplugged from the original Corvette body. Despite this, the project is evidence of what is possible with enough hours and ingenuity. The marriage of a Ford Focus body with Corvette underpinnings might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we have to hand it to Scheer for following through on something this ambitious.

  1. When I was young we did crazy swaps all the time. A company named Trans Dept made parts for mating engine and trans.
But if you already had a Corvette…
Unless you are building a Sleeper. And looking to win some races and some cash.
