Here’s When 2025 GMC Sierra EV Production Is Scheduled To Start

With orders for the range-topping Denali Edition 1 model officially opening a few months ago, the 2024 Sierra EV will soon take to American roads. That being said, it’s never too late to plan ahead, as GM Authority has now learned when the 2025 GMC Sierra EV is currently scheduled to commence production.

The start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Sierra EV is currently scheduled for September 3rd, 2024. As always, this date is tentative in nature and subject to change at any time with minimal notice.

Of course, production of the 2024 GMC Sierra EV hasn’t kicked off quite yet, but will get underway this summer. In addition, only the Denali Edition 1 will be on offer during the inaugural 2024 model year.

For the upcoming 2025 model year, more Sierra EV variants will be added, including the Elevation, the AT4, and the “non-Edition 1” Denali trim levels. For reference, the Edition 1 is essentially a fully loaded Denali, so the “regular” 2025 Sierra EV Denali will offer less standard features and more options and packages.

In other Sierra EV-related developments, GM Authority recently reported that the all-electric pickup truck’s online configurator is live, although only the aforementioned Denali Edition 1 model is up for tinkering. In fact, outside of some dealer-installed accessories, there’s not much configuration to be done.

As a reminder, the 2025 GMC Sierra EV will utilize GM Ultium Drive motor and GM Ultium battery technologies for motivation, which produce 754 horsepower and 758 pound-feet of torque and deliver 440 miles of range from a single charge when configured in Edition 1 form.

Under the body panels lies the narrow-body version of the GM BT1 platform, which also underpins the Chevy Silverado EV. Meanwhile, the GMC Hummer EV rides on the wide-body variant of the same platform. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

  1. After seeing the Silverado ev WT in person, I really think these 2 ev trucks can deliver if everything is done right ( it won’t be )

  2. @meh, everything as in being able to deliver the trucks, have reliable batteries, pretty much offer the same thing as ice trucks but with better reliability… instead of focusing on my comment, I’m interested to know how you feel ?

  3. It’s just a re-topped Silverado EV right?

Solid but expensive product. It won’t be a hot seller but it might give GMC dealers another reason for adding in the EV infrastructure .

  4. Make it in a suburban or yukon xl platform at4 package with an 8 seat configuration, then I might actually get interested in an ev vehicle. Until that happens, I really have no use for one

  5. 750+ Horsepower and torque is impressive, along with 440 miles range. Plus I think the GMC is a better looking truck than the Chevy EV truck. It doesn’t have that Chevy Avalanche look. I think they did a nice job on this truck, I just wish the price was a little lower. Oh well, maybe in time the cost will come down.

  6. I want more information and images of the Elevation and its interior.
