Chevy has already revealed a few updates and additions to the 2025 Corvette lineup, the most significant of which is the forthcoming debut of the twin-turbo 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1. We’ve now learned when production of the C8 Corvette’s sixth model year will get under way.
According to GM Authority sources, the start of regular production of the 2025 Corvette is currently scheduled to start on September 9th, 2024. As usual, the Corvette will be built at the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky, the same facility that has served as the exclusive manufacturing site of the Corvette since 1981.
Once again, the Chevy Corvette will be available in Stingray, Z06 and E-Ray variants, in three trim levels across Coupe and Convertible body styles, in addition to the C8 Corvette ZR1 which will be officially revealed this summer. Seven paint colors will be dropped, including:
- Accelerate Yellow Metallic(GD0) – introduced for the 2020 model year
- Amplify Orange Tintcoat(GC5) – introduced for the 2022 model year
- Cacti Green(GVR) – introduced for the 2024 model year
- Carbon Flash Metallic(GAR) – introduced for the 2023 model year in conjunction with Corvette 70th Anniversary Special Edition models
- Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic(G9F) – introduced for the 2018 model year in conjunction with the Corvette Carbon 65
- Hypersonic Gray Metallic(GA7) – introduced for the 2022 model year
- Silver Flare Metallic(GSJ) – introduced for the 2021 model year
Meanwhile, three new paint colors are being introduced. Or to be more specific, one all-new color and two returning hues:
- Competition Yellow Tintcoat – previously available on the C4 Corvette
- Hysteria Purple Metallic – new for the 2025 model year
- Sebring Orange Tintcoat – previously available on the 2019 C7 Corvette as well as the 2020 and 2021 C8 Corvette
The 2025 Corvette also gains blue custom leather stitching for the Jet Black interior colorway, a new interior colorway called Habanero, while the C8 Corvette Z06 gains a new 10-spoke wheel design with four different finishes. The new model year also introduces Velocity Yellow painted brake calipers, likely replacing the current Edge Yellow calipers, which should pair nicely with the new Competition Yellow Tintcoat paint option. Moreover, the C8 Corvette Stingray’s Z51 Performance Package will now feature a revised spoiler, adding to the vehicle’s aerodynamic capabilities and visual appeal.
As a reminder, the Corvette lineup includes the C8 Stingray and its naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque in standard form, the C8 Z06 and its naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the C8 E-Ray with its combination of the aforementioned 6.2L LT2 engine and a front-mounted electric motor developing a combined 655 horsepower. The upcoming Corvette Z06 is expected to feature a turbocharged variant of the 5.5L LT6 engine, of which GM recently released a sound clip of the LT7 motor revving up.
In regard to structure, all Corvette C8 models ride on the GM Y2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

WHEN WILL THE PRICING BE AVAILABLE FOR THE c8 HTC
A better question would be when will GM stop teasing the customers and start producing them so that customers don’t have to wait 3-4yrs to get them.
If only they could find an uglier shade of green – we sure wouldnt want a bright metallic green
Think he meant up and coming ZR1, not ZO6.
No answer to my question????
Even small to medium dealers in my rural area have 2 to 3 2024 vettes on their lots at MSRP or a small discount. What do they plan to do, run the C8 body style as long as the C3?
Interesting, would like to know what options they have. Can’t find one yet.
Anxious for the ‘25 C8 HTC release and allocation date along with the 2025 price points !!
C8 inventory is starting to back up, expect up to 6k off these units over the summer…the MSRP and above pricing is now history. Even Z06 a=can be had for MSRP or slight discount.
Why does it seem to be so difficult to find a Dealership willing to take an Order on the 2025 C8 Z06 HTC Competition Yellow ??? And why do they keep telling me that there is a Three Year waiting list … I’ve given up !! Guess I’ll just keep my C7 and find something else to buy for $150k
Take the Z51. Tell the dealer to change the tires. Most people would rather have the Z51 tires even if the car is a base StingRay.
I did and they wouldn’t go for it! Maybe I need to go to a different dealership- ya think?
Why was I having such a hard time trying to order a 2024 2LT HTC corvette! My dealership keeps telling me the only allocation they are getting are for Z51! I would take a Z51 if I didn’t have to replace the tires in the winter!
So let me get this straight,gm canceled 7 paint choices, has 3 new ones and that’s it?What the hell are they thinking? I’m waiting 2 years to order one and now they limit the paint choices,I’ve never heard of such a stupid decision
That pretty much sums it up Frank. I feel for u. I’m one of the lucky ones who was able to get what I wanted and all I can say is the cars are amazing no matter what color they are. I’ve never seen that I didn’t like. Don’t give up, u will love it.
I ordered competition yellow on my 25 Zo6 and color is on constraints which is not uncommon so I changed color to red mist metallic. According to dealer it will be built this week (9-15-24)Ordered the zo6 4 months ago from a new dealer after waiting 3 years at another dealership. Dealer allocation is everything so check around
I was advised by Mc Haib, Chev . Tx that 2025, Z06 if you order a high wing spoiler you have to purchase the ground effects with it! which brings it to $ 14,000. I did not want the ground effects but was told GM required it. Is this bull or what?
It’s an aero package that is designed for improving handling, not a cosmetic piece that is just there for looks. I agree most people like looks of it but it needs to be the whole package to do what it is designed for.
