Back in August 2023, GM unveiled the all-new 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, a fully electric counterpart to the luxury brand’s flagship SUV. Its highlights include a two-motor powertrain with up to 750 horsepower, a tech-heavy equipment list that includes a 55-inch infotainment system, and a projected driving range of 460 miles. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the upcoming full-size EV will start.
The start of regular production of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is currently scheduled for October 7th, 2024, or a few months later than initially planned, as the brand previously announced that it would start building the SUV in Summer 2024. We’ll note that this date is tentative and subject to change between now and then.
Although the Escalade IQ and the refreshed, internal combustion-engine 2025 Cadillac Escalade will share many styling cues, the two SUVs boast distinctive bodywork. The IQ stands out with its much longer wheelbase, while overall length slots in between those of the Escalade and the extended-length Escalade ESV. The electric variant is also marginally wider, with a slightly lower roofline and lower ground clearance for a sportier stance.
At launch, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will be available with a pair of Ultium Drive electric motors producing a combined output of up to 750 horsepower and up to 785 pound-feet of torque when the driver-selectable Velocity Max mode is activated. The brand figures a 0-60 mph time of less than five seconds. The 200+ kWh Ultium 24-module battery pack will provide a driving range estimated at 460 miles on a full charge, in addition to powering external devices thanks to its optional Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) function.
The Escalade IQ will feature 24-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires, a fully independent suspension and four-wheel steering. Its Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and Adaptive Air Ride suspension will allow the SUV to be raised by one inch, and lowered by two inches. The IQ will also be able to tow up to 8,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Luxury 1, Luxury 2, Sport 1 and Sport 2 trim levels will be available, along with four interior color and trim themes to choose from. The cabin’s centerpiece is the pillar-to-pillar, 55-inch display that houses the driver instrument cluster, the infotainment system touchscreen and the front passenger entertainment screen. The standard AKG audio system includes 19 speakers, while the optional AKG Studio Reference system boasts 36 speakers. That number climbs to 40 when the Executive Second Row package is also selected. Other tech features include Super Cruise, OnStar, dual 12.6-inch rear-seat entertainment screens and 5G network connectivity, while front and second-row massaging seats will also be available.
The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will be built alongside the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Hummer EV Pickup, the Chevy Silverado EV and the GMC Sierra EV at the GM Factory Zero plant in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Looks pretty good, as it should for the 130K price I read it will start at.
The few Lyrigs I have seen look very stylish. A few details are overwrought. But compared to the old fogy look of the XTs it looks like a true Cadillac
This and the Hummer are the mostly useless case for an EV. Massive battery that rapes the plane to mine. Pisspoor efficiency. Crap utility. Essentially needs a DC rapid charger when youre on the road. GM needs hybrid full-size trucks and SUVs what were they thinking lol gotta give your head a shake
Hopefully the Factory Zero vehicles will get hybrid consideration starting in 2027,
None of the Ultium products share anything with ICE vehicle platforms. The battery pack is a structural element that can’t easily be replaced with another structure, let alone engines and exhaust systems.
Looks like GM is prioritizing the batteries for the Equinox/Blazer/Optiq/Lyriq instead. Though it would be nice if they started making LT and Elevation EVs first as well.
Another “environmentally friendly” 6 ton dump truck…..
Where is the Tahoe ev and Yukon ev along with the traverse and Acadia ev ?
Waiting for the next gen battery tech.
Everyone needs to stop complaining about whether this is environmentally friendly or not. It’s way more environmentally friendly than a gas Escalade. And that’s all that matters. If leftists are holding their breath until the day they can get Escalade and Hummer drivers to turn into crying Sally Struthers, begging for a day’s coffee cost to sponsor Mother Earth, they will go blue in the face. It’s a massive improvement over the alternative – someone buying a 13 mpg Escalade. And who is to judge someone that wants a big 7 seat SUV? It’s a free country.
I’m not sure the gas Escalade causes giant lithium mine toxic tailing ponds……
And oil fracking is any better for the environment?
Thats “whataboutism”
Yeah might wanna check your logic there danc
And where do the million gallons of water used to frack go! Oh right!
Sorry, when I buy a vehicle “environmental friendliness” is not even a consideration, and that is the way it is for most people. If it does not meet my needs, I am not buying it.
Depends on the energy source to create the electricity to charge it. Where I live data centers are springing up everywhere so idled coal and natural gas electric generators are being fired back up. Everybody charging at home plus datacenters will require energy from some source. And the cost, schedule and scarcity of nuclear engineers nukes ain’t gonna be enough
Please everyone is a environmentalists now with the EVs! Just think of all the car accidents that leave oil antifreeze, freeon ect no concern for that? People just don’t like change! Im a technician for Cadillac for the past 25 years and the Lyriq is a amazing car/crossover its quite, powerfull, Handles extremely well and smooth well built! Couple of storage concerns and programming issues as long as you have a place to charge but other than that I would recommend this car. I can’t wait for the New Escalade EV! Don’t worry you backyard machanics the ICE is not going away anytime soon so you can still keep your man card and change your oil on a Sunday! Change is good! Try new things! Any questions ask!
And taking thousands of gallons of water and spending hours putting out an EV fire is worse that some oil and antifreeze spilled on the ground that can be scooped up?
And the fact that there’s no ecological way to get rid of a dead battery after 100k miles 💀
Recycled!
Now your showing your age. LICY …look it up….recycled!
Battery fires shouldn’t use water to extinguish, but okay.
They can always try throwing money at to smother the fire……
i think the big question is can GM make it without alot of issues get out to sell with out recalls ,reliability and the rich buy it
The people who buy this will be wealthy, will likely be charging at home and or will be driven in the back seat of them. It’s gonna be a cash cow for GM and it will likely exceed 450 miles of range and be closer to 500 in real world. It looks Great and will command attention and road presence.
.. I also think GM should offer these with smaller battery packs for the folks who don’t need the extra battery weight and range. Same with the Silverado and hummer.
&&& the environmental argument is exhausting. EV’s are considerably cleaner from manufacturing to consumer usage and they are even cleaner if you charge them from clean energy resources. The whole mining industry is not necessarily clean but the environmental impact of an EV is far less negative over its lifespan than vehicles like a gas powered Escalade that gets 18 mpg It’s also worth noting that eventually these batteries will be recycled and reused making next gen EV’s even cleaner. Every year the grid adds a ton of renewable energy capacity so the whole “dirty EV’ argument is going to become hard to defend eventually.
Most Escalade IQ owners already have photovoltaic panels at their homes and garages getting electricity for free. I am one of those with free electricity, but I just want the Optiq. The Escalade IQ is too big.
When these hit the used car market, expect depreciation levels worse than a pop-up travel trailer.
No worries! You lease these EVs never buy! (battery and technology constantly changing)
