GM Africa And Middle East Names New Chief Marketing

The GM Africa and Middle East subsidiary has just appointed a new Chief Marketing Officer for its operations in that region.

The automaker announced the appointment of Furrukh Jawaid as the new Chief Marketing Officer for General Motors Africa and Middle East. Jawaid will lead the company’s efforts to consolidate its growth plans and transform the customer experience in the region through its innovation-focused trajectory. Jawaid will take up the role on July 1, replacing Suzie Guzzo, who has been promoted and relocated to the United States.

“We are excited to welcome Furrukh to our Middle East team to drive forward our mission of transforming the customer experience,” said President and Managing Director of General Motors Africa and Middle East, Jack Uppal. “His track record across markets speaks for itself, and we are confident that his contributions to our leadership position in premium trucks and SUVs across the GMC and Chevrolet brands will come to bear,” he added.

As the new Chief Marketing Officer for General Motors Africa and Middle East, Furrukh Jawaid will oversee the total marketing effort across the Chevrolet and GMC brands in countries across both regions. This includes overseeing the brand marketing, product marketing, CRM and retail marketing, digital marketing, and retail and customer experiences teams, ensuring they align with the brands’ global strategy and positioning.

Furrukh Jawaid joins General Motors Africa and Middle East from General Motors Canada as Head of Performance Marketing and Data Enablement. There, he has extensive experience in digital and performance marketing with a focus on innovation. He has also developed several initiatives to facilitate smoother processes within the organization. He joined General Motors in 2008 as a co-op student and has a strong track record in various areas of the company.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining General Motors Africa & Middle East at such a pivotal time,” said Furrukh Jawaid. “The Middle East is a dynamic and fast-growing market, and I’m eager to collaborate with our talented team here and our dealer partners to continue to build upon GM’s strong foundation in the region and achieve even greater success for our Chevrolet and GMC brands,” he finished.
