As GM Authority has been closely following, General Motors has postponed its Investor Day presentation a number of times already, from November 2023 to March 2024 to an unspecified date in Q1 2024. However, that date has now been announced.
The General’s 2024 Investor Day presentation is currently scheduled for October 8th, 2024. The annual Investor Day is an event during which the automaker reveals or reiterates its sales, production and marketing strategies, in addition to unveiling updates to its future product roadmap.
As previously mentioned, General Motors has delayed its Investor Day presentation a number of times already. In explaining why this happened last time, GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra remarked “I would like to share some thoughts about our next Investor Day. Because of the significant changes that are under way at GM and Cruise, we think it makes sense to wait until later in the year to host an event.”
Before that, the Detroit-based automaker elected to reschedule the November 2023 date due to the UAW Stand Up Strike during Summer 2023 and Fall 2023. GM CFO Paul Jacobson stated that The General wanted “to make sure that it wasn’t something that was dominated by the UAW.” Apparently, “when the weather gets a little bit warmer in Charlotte in March, we’ll have that Investor Day,” Jacobson continued. Of course, this ended up not being the case.
Speaking of General Motors’ autonomous driving subsidiary, Cruise has slowly but surely been working its way back into the public eye since its October 2023 incident with limited operations in Houston, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas, where a driver sits behind the wheel ready to take over should the need arise. From there, the robotaxi company will continue to expand its operations as safety benchmarks are met.
In other GM-Cruise developments, the Detroit-based automaker recently announced $850 million investment into its self-driving subsidiary.
