The duo posted a cumulative 1,668 deliveries, while the Silverado EV (see running Chevy Silverado EV sales) saw 1,061 sales, and newcomer Tesla Cybertruck moved 500 units.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck (WT) variant

The GM Authority Take

With its third quarter of Chevy Silverado EV sales in the books, a solid trend continues even though it still offers only one variant—the fleet-focused base model WT. But other trim levels are on the way, as is the all-electric truck’s corporate cousin, the GMC Sierra EV – set to enter this new, growing battery-electric pickup truck space, one that is outside the traditional full-size trucks segment that GM continues dominate.

In early March, dealers began taking orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition, with production now underway, while it gets a lower price and higher range estimate.

Chevy Silverado EV LT, RST, and Trail Boss trim levels will launch over the next year. The Silverado EV LT and non-First-Edition RST trims will launch in the second half of the 2024 calendar year, while Silverado EV Trail Boss trim level is expected to launch in 2025. It was spotted testing back in April. Other trims, such as a new Custom trim level that GM Authority was first to report about, as well as a High Country trim, are expected to join the lineup in the near future.

Production of the 2025 Silverado EV is currently scheduled to start on September 3rd.

GM currently has 100,000 reservations and orders in place for its new all-electric pickup models. That number includes Chevy Silverado EV sales, plus the GMC Sierra EV and Hummer EV Pickup. The automaker expects to fulfill the reservations and orders through the 2024 and 2025 calendar years.

The first-ever 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 debuted in October 2022, and dealers began taking orders this past March. It is expected to launch this summer.

Regarding the competition, The Blue Oval showcased the Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear at the beginning of the year, a high-performance all-electric off-roader concept as a potential Raptor-like variant of the F-150 Lightning.

Last fall, Stellantis unveiled a new 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger EREV, or extended-range electric vehicle. Though GM currently has no answer, the automaker allegedly started working on Silverado and Sierra PHEVs, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Most recently, revamped 2025 Rivian R1S and R1T models debuted with more power, range, and tech.

About Chevrolet Silverado EV

The first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado EV officially debuted at CES 2022, arriving in the well-equipped RST First Edition and fleet-focused WT trim levels. The 2024 Silverado EV 3WT gets a new fleet package with an even higher tow capacity.

The all-electric Silverado was engineered from the ground up to be exclusively an electric vehicle. Rather than utilizing the automaker’s T1 truck platform, the all-new pickup truck leverages the available 24-module Ultium Battery pack as a fundamental part of the vehicle’s structure. The Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV ride on a variant of the GM BT1 platform that underpins the Hummer EV Pickup, powered by Ultium Batteries and Ultium Drive motors. Among many other firsts for GM full-size pickups, the BT1 platform also utilizes an independent front and rear suspension system.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV 3WT and 4WT deliver an estimated 393 miles and 450 miles of range from a full charge, respectively. The 2024 Silverado EV 4WT delivers true pickup truck capabilities with a maximum tow rating of 10,000 pounds and a maximum payload rating of 1,400 pounds.

In addition to the aforementioned WT variants, the Silverado EV will be offered in the RST trim level, with a long feature list, debuting as the RST First Edition. A Trail Boss trim will launch as a 2025 model. Other trims, such as a new Custom trim level that GM Authority was first to report about, as well as High Country, are expected to join the lineup in the near future.

The RST First Edition features GM’s Adaptive Air Ride suspension as standard and four-wheel-steering for improved maneuverability like that of the Hummer EV Pickup.

Naturally, the Chevy Silverado EV will draw comparisons to the ICE-based Chevy Silverado 1500. Check out our exterior and interior dimensional comparison for both models.

Production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck began this past June at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant.

  1. Big deal.

  2. ….lets see how the dealer warranty / service experience goes for these 1,000 vehicles.

Anybody can sell you a car / truck. It’s that support that’s the true indication of being customer-focused.

    1. How about waiting even longer? I would never judge a vehicle by those produced during the first year of production. I’m considering getting an Equinox EV, but not yet.

  3. I wish GMA would quit hiding stories with headlines that don’t tell the whole story. Again I almost missed the sales data with a headline that would indicate it’s only about sales of one vehicle, one I don’t really care that much about.

The real news in this story is that GM EV sales are up 20% and EV pickup sales up over 70%. Also that GM sold 2x as many EV pickups as Tesla.

    1. FYI, Cybertruck Q1 sales quoted in this article are wrong. S&P Mobility shows that over 1000 CTs were registered in the month of March alone, let alone the rest of the quarter.

  4. How can it be record if its first quarter f150 sold 7k so ? Big deal ?

  5. 1000 a quarter, huh? Not impressive at all. Any idea how many are sitting on dealer lots.

  8. I wonder how many were actually sold to consumers. I stopped to see a friend at a local Chevy dealership about a month ago and they had 5 or 6 Silverado EV’s on the lot, they were all going to a local power company. My friend told me he hadn’t had much interest in them from the general public, but there was a fair amount of interest from the local electric utility companies and government entities.

The Lightening has only seen a big increase in sales because they recently deep discounted the huge supply of them they had on hand that weren’t selling.

  9. They cancelled the Camaro and I believe the annual sales were more than the pace of Silverado EV?

    1. The difference is the Silverado, Sierra, Hummer, Escalade IQ, and Brightdrop EVs share a lot of the same underpinnings and outside of the Brightdrop vehicles even built in the same factory.

  10. These vehicles, in real time, emit more CO2 than many gasoline hybrids. This does not even count the over NINETEEN TONS of CO2 emitted in making the battery. I am a rabid environmentalist. And these vehicles are a DIASTER

    1. Right because there are so many hybrid trucks on the road.

    2. I’m sorry, what? How does an EV emit CO2?

  12. Who wants to see if GM will honor the reservation price quoted on the reservation? Put my reservation in back in 2022 and was quoted 39,900… Even the work model is listed at 75k.

    Reply
  13. THEY WON’T HONOR THAT PRICE FROM 2022 AND THE DEALER WILL PUT ADM ON IT ALSO. REMEMBER YOU ARE BUYING FROM THE DEALER AND NOT GM. DEALER’S ARE FRANCHISED AND THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT.

  14. You completely misrepresented Cybertruck Q1 sales. According to Cox Automotive, 2,803 Cybertrucks were sold in Q1 2024, over 2.5 times Silverado sales.

Are you going to correct this misstatement?
