Carjacker Fails Corvette Theft, Settles For Camaro Instead: Video

Unfortunately, it appears as though dealers and owners of the sixth-gen Chevy Camaro have had a rough going the last few months, as GM Authority has reported on several cases of thieves stealing the Bow Tie muscle car with uncanny efficiency. Regrettably, another Camaro has fallen victim to crooks, while a Corvette C7 was almost taken as well.

Surveillance footage from a car dealership in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania shows a hooded gentleman having mixed success commandeering the two Bow Tie performance machines. Early last Wednesday, police responded to Morgan Automotive of Lancaster Road / Route 72 in Penn Township in the wee hours of the morning.

In reviewing the footage, we can first see the criminal smashing the window of the Corvette C7 and then diving right in. Notably, the Camaro Convertible lies in the foreground. Then, the next clip shows the Camaro out on the street, while the Vette appears to be stuck somewhere between a rock and a hard place, or rather the fence and hedge. An individual is shown running up from the left and grabbing one of the broken boards of the fence. Finally, the last clip shows law enforcement arriving and a person running to the Chevy Camaro.

It’s worth noting that police gave chase for a short while, but the officer elected to end the pursuit in the interest of public safety. In the immediate aftermath, the surrounding agencies and Pennsylvania State Police assisted in searching for the suspect(s). That being said, the perpetuators are believed to still be at large as of this writing.

Moving forward, police stated that the resulting investigation revealed evidence that the person who fled – and potentially other individuals – had entered Manheim Auto Auction property and other surrounding businesses, presumably to steal vehicles.

If anyone has any information related to this event, officials are requesting they contact Northern Lancaster County Regional Police at 717-733-0965 or Lancaster County Crime Stoppers at 800-322-1913. Tips can also be submitted online here.

  2. Ther police here are useless. They had no evidence of who these guys are and in a stolen car.

It was clear they were there to steal cars.

They should have jumped on them before they got into the car. Drive right up on them and knock them down. I would rather injure them and catch them vs letting them go. This will just happen again and someone innocent may get hurt now because they did not do their job.

All police departments need to issue warnings that if you do not give up you may suffer injuries.

    1. Unfortunately, the public has all but neutered the police. Our local DA is more interested in prosecuting police than perps.

  4. 6th Gen. Camaro’s seem to be rather easy to steal, a number of them were stolen here right from the factory lot (Lansing Grand River) and led the police on a chase about a year or so ago.

    1. Anything with a key fob is easily stolen. They’re using scan tools to duplicate the code from the fob. The uptick in Camaros is due to them being discontinued so the value on the black market/parts arena is up.

  6. These guys are not gentleman, they are thieves and thugs. Call them by their proper names next time. And there will be a next time.

  7. Carjacking happens when the owner is driving or in the car. Car theft is what happened here.

  8. When are we going to get with it, and execute these pigs, who feel it’s okay to steal someone else’s hard earned property. Hell half the time these people are out on bail awaiting trial for the previous theft. Put these scum bags to death, as they are never going to be rehabilitated, or of any use to society.
