Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Cadillac Escalade sales during Q1 2024 kept the full-size luxury SUV solidly at the top of its segment again when ranked by sales volume, commanding this space as it has for well over a dozen years. Sales of the Escalade family are combined this quarter and not broken out. Comprised of the regular-length Escalade and extended-length Escalade ESV, the duo posted a just one percent slip in sales, nearly flat, for 9,135 deliveries.

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer family, which comprises the regular-length Grand Wagoneer and extended-length Grand Wagoneer L, followed with a 74 percent jump in sales to 3,550 units as the newest model here continues to grow in the marketplace, even outpacing the Lincoln Navigator this quarter. The Navigator (see running Lincoln Navigator sales) duo, represented by the regular-length Navigator and extended-length Navigator L, posted a 25 percent drop to 3,127 units. Meanwhile, the Infiniti QX80 saw a 22 percent dip to 2,473 units, while the Lexus LX finished last with an eight percent bump for 1,697 deliveries.

Below, we’ve included sales figures for full-size luxury crossovers for reference. Though they differ mechanically from the aforementioned body-on-frame SUVs by utilizing a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered alternatives to regular full-size luxury SUVs. The only full-size luxury crossovers are the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and Land Rover Range Rover. The rumored Audi Q9 is incoming at some point to rival the Escalade and would slot into this space. The Escalade family outpaces these crossovers as well, even though all three each moved more units than the second-place Grand Wagoneer full-size SUV duo.

The GM Authority Take

Cadillac Escalade sales were essentially flat year-over-year during the first quarter of 2024, matching the segment average. Furthermore, it held the same 46 percent segment share from a year ago and even the previous quarter. That’s quite the consistency in spite of the introduction of the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer a couple of years ago, which appears to be taking sales from the Lincoln Navigator along with the Infiniti QX80 and Lexus LX. GM is glad to have its crosstown rivals duke it out as the Escalade continues to account for nearly half of all sales in this space.

A refresh of Cadillac’s flagship utility is on the way for the 2025 model year, which should only help sales grow.
