2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali To Offer Two Battery Capacities

General Motors unveiled the all-electric GMC Sierra EV in October 2022, dropping the sheets on the range-topping Denali Edition 1. As expected, the all-electric Sierra continues for the 2025 model year, with customers offered a few different options regarding the power configuration. Now, according to GM Authority sources, the 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali will offer two battery capacities total.

The 2025 GMC Sierra EV will offer two battery capacities.

The first of the 2025-model-year GMC Sierra EV Denali battery options will be a 20-module pack (RPO code ETI) with a capacity of approximately 170 kWh, which will be equipped as standard. In addition, customers will have the option to upgrade to a 24-module battery pack (RPO code ETN) with a capacity of about 204 kWh.

For reference, the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 features the 24-module battery pack as standard, offering a 440-mile driving range on a single charge, matching specs for the Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition. It’s also worth noting that the 2024 Silverado EV 3WT is equipped with the 20-module battery pack and has an estimated driving range of 393 miles. We’re expecting a range of 380 to 390 miles for the 2025 Sierra EV Denali as standard.

Per previous GM Authority coverage, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 GMC Sierra EV is currently scheduled to begin on September 3rd, 2024. Only the Denali trim level will be built when production kicks off, at least initially. The GMC Sierra EV Elevation and GMC Sierra EV AT4 trim levels won’t go into production prior to the 2025 calendar year, with both trims expected to arrive in dealerships sometime in the first half of 2025.

All variants of the GMC Sierra EV ride on the GM BT1 platform and feature GM Ultium Drive motors and GM Ultium batteries. The BT1 platform is the same platform that underpins the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful idea. The reason for the big battery is road tripping. It will be interesting to see what the 75 mph steady state range looks like. I cringe to think about the price.
