2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Won’t Offer These Two Paint Colors

The 2025 GMC Sierra represents the seventh model year of the brand’s full-size light-duty pickup line, and is scheduled to receive another round of changes and updates. Among those changes is the withdrawal of two paint colors that were offered during the 2024 model year.

Indeed, GM Authority has learned that Dynamic Blue Metallic (color code GLT) and Deep Bronze Metallic (color code GXN) will be dropped after the 2024 model year. In fact, the blue hue was built out in February, while the brown hue was built out in March. These two colors won’t be replaced for the time being.

Dynamic Blue Metallic was introduced on the Sierra for the 2022 model year, available on the Elevation, AT4 and AT4X trim levels only. Meanwhile, Deep Bronze Metallic was added to the Sierra’s color palette for the 2023 model year, available exclusively on the Elevation and AT4 trim levels.

Moving forward, the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 paint color selection will include the following:

  • Cardinal Red (G7C)
  • Downpour Metallic (GXP)
  • Onyx Black (GBA)
  • Sterling Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Thunderstorm Gray (GNO)
  • Titanium Rush Metallic (G6M)
  • White Frost Tricoat (G1W)

Production of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 is currently scheduled to start on August 19th, 2024 for Regular Cab and Crew Cab units, while production of the Double Cab configuration is set to get under way on August 26th, 2024. These dates are subject to change between now and then.

No changes are planned under the hood of the Sierra 1500. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine, branded as the TurboMax, is the base powerplant, producing 310 horsepower and mated to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3L V8 L84 engine developing 355 horsepower, the 6.2L V8 L87 developing 420 as well as the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine with 305 horsepower are all available as well, connected to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.

The GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. Great, so it’s finally reduced to the old boring red and seven “colors” that look like primer.
    YAWN…

    1. What’s the difference between a Downpour and a Thunderstorm? Lol

      1. Downpour is a light metallic blue and the Thunderstorm is a dove grey color. Hope that helps?

    2. When will you be able to order a 2025 GMC with the downpour metallic paint. Went to order a truck, and was told color not available right now. Really? Guess gm doesn’t want to make sales.

  2. Wow, looks like the two colors dropped on the Silverado in a recent article. Who would have thought that?

  3. No Volcanic Red Tintcoat ?

    1. They already took away desert sand metallic (which was a great looking color) to make the lineup more boring. Replaced desert sand with deep bronze metallic, and now they’re doing away with blue and bronze.

  4. Very sad to see the Volcanic Red Tintcoat not mentioned in the list and is not stated as a dropped color. This is one of my favorite colors from the recent years and was a popular color among buyers. Hopefully just a typo.

  5. White, grey, black, can gm get anymore basic? Tired of these blah colors, not to wonder why ripoff dealers are loaded with them,,

  6. General Motors color people are all color blind like the guy who cemoflaged a ‘hidden’ water tank by painting it pink a few years back. The ones doing the Chevy and GMC truchs are probably the same people that came up with the patate for the Olds Aurora. All ‘earth colors’ on a factory hot rod.
