Per previous GM Authority coverage, the 2025 Cadillac XT5 will no longer offer the Platinum Package, which was previously available for the 2024 model year. Notably, GM will offer an all-new second generation for the XT5 in the Chinese market in conjunction with the 2025 model year. However, the second-gen XT5 will not be available in North America.
Production of the North American 2025 Cadillac XT5 kicks off on June 24th, 2024, at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. Two engine options will be available, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine. The GM C1 platform will once again provide the underpinnings, as was the case for the 2024 model year.

“Notably, GM will offer an all-new second generation for the XT5 in the Chinese market in conjunction with the 2025 model year. However, the second-gen XT5 will not be available in North America.”
That being said, I hope that no money of North America customers will go to GM. GM does not deserve it. But GM deserves the new name, GCM – General Chinese Motors.
Isn’t it a shame and a sham that GM is doing this? The founding country takes a backseat. The same is occurring with Buick! When you’re a CEO making $29M a year, it doesn’t matter if we like it or not!
I love my 2022 XT5. Its a fantastic vehicle and really changed my perception of GMs current products. But I will warn GM, when it comes time to replace her, they better have a viable replacement (and NO, the Lyriq is NOT a viable replacement unless it charges in only 5 minute, has 450 miles of range, and costs as much as a 5-passenger ICE luxury SUV). Otherwise, I will be posting on GenesisAuthority or LexusAuthority about how I love my GV80 or RX. You can’t expect me to stay loyal to you if you don’t offer a product that caters to my needs.
MARY CATERS TO THE COMMUNIST THE HELL WITH AMERICANS ***SHE HAS TO GO***
I really don’t get why they removed the Platinum package. It really elevated the XT5 and made it really premium with the premium leather, suede headliner, olive ash wood trim, 3-zone climate control and ventilated seats. Now without it the car is practically at Buicks level. This is why luxury car buyers have moved on to the German brands and never looked back. And then they wonder why they can’t compete with the Germans in the US when god forbid they don’t cater to the Chinese consumer. “American consumer? Who’s that?”
Been a while since the XT5 or XT6 is relevant to anyone under 80. The product is so dated it is a joke.
I guess this is another way GM “honors those who serve.” I found buying our new XT4 that I could either get a military discount, or a friends and family – but not both ( like Ford and Chrysler do). I guess if my friends worked for GM that I am no longer honored if I served in the USAF for 31 years. GM should at least stop claiming that they “honor” us – maybe it I had been in the Chinese Air Force . . .
I used to work at a GM dealership in Canada. Up until atleast 2017/2018 a customer could stack these discount programs. I doubt much would have changed on this. I think your dealer was either not well informed or was too lazy to look it up.
I recall one customer that was able to stack all of these on a Cadillac:
GM Supplier price (similar to employee price)
Student discount $750
Army Discount $1000
Mobility discount $1000
GM Visa Points $3500 for Cadillac
From the 11 Jul 24 GM discount page – ” you cannot stack our (military) offer with the GM First Responder Appreciation offer, GM Educator Appreciation offer, GM College Appreciation offer, GM Family First Discount, GM Supplier Discount, GM Dealership Employee Discount, Supplier Discount for Friends or GM Employee Purchase Program for Executive Referrals. ”
Apparently, GM only “appreciates” military personnel who are not employees, friends of employees, or much of anything else. Both Ford and Chrysler have allowed me to “stack” to the heavens. Ford even called me once to tell me about a special program if I got to a demonstration by noon!
It may be academic if the reliability of this XT4 doesn’t improve!
Ever tried to use a coupon on a sale item anywhere? Usually forbidden because every company has a minimum profit margin they expect to earn in every item or they refuse to lose money on any single item. How business works.
If you are getting a vehicle cheaper than the general public be happy.
My wife uses coupons every time she goes shopping (which is a lot!). Question is how does the company and store make money on a 50% off sale? It’s because profit margins are a lot larger than the customer is led to believe. I am sure Ford is still making money when the discounts on my Mustang stack up to over 8 %. And the “dealer” is still making money when they still “deal.” The Cadillac store is not a “dealer.” It’s ‘here is the price – take it or leave it.’
I would not expect any good business to lose money. I certainly didn’t stay in business 40 years by losing money. And I always made my customers think they were getting a good deal – which they were.
