As one of General Motors’ most popular—and profitable—offerings in the North American market, the Chevy Silverado is an extremely important vehicle to the Detroit-based automaker, to say the least. To that end, General recently released a new video highlighting a Silverado 1500 and its HD sibling.
As a promotion for Chevy trucks, as well as the Spring Into Adventure sales event, this new video presents the two Bow Tie pickups doing all sorts of truck-related activities, like hauling dirt bikes and towing a 1963 Chevy Impala. Toward the end of the advertisement, General Motors spotlights an incentive where Silverado 1500 units configured in the Crew Cab LT setup with the 5.3L V8 L84 may receive up to $5,750 when trading in an eligible vehicle, which is good for 10 percent below MSRP.
As a reminder, the current version of Chevy’s full-size pickup is offered with a wide range of powerplant options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
Meanwhile, the HD’s powerplant options are limited to two choices: the standard naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
Under the skin, both Bow Tie pickup trucks ride on variants of the GM T1 platform. Production of the Silverado 1500 takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Silao plant in Mexico, and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, while the HD variants are produced at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa facility.

The ad doesn’t mention the gas mileage. The diesel usually has the highest mileage rating. And I believe the heavy duty truck aren’t even EPA tested. I believe those still have a big tax write off for businesses.
The commercial isn’t long enough. They should have started the commercial with father and son working on the Impala together And when they finally finish the project it’s loaded up on a trailer and a Silverado is towing the classic car to the local car show. It would have been a great Father’s Day commercial. It would have out memories of sons and daughters working with cars and trucks along side with the Fathers .
