Three weeks after formally beginning its deliveries in the US market, the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV made its official debut in Mexico.
General Motors has just officially unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV in Mexico, the home country of Chevrolet’s all-electric compact crossover responsible for supplying North America and the rest of the international markets where it will be sold – except China, where it will also be manufactured exclusively for the domestic market. The 2024 Equinox EV was shown for the first time in the North American country on June 5, just before the start of the pre-sale period.
“The Chevrolet Equinox EV not only represents the future of mobility, aligned with our Zero Emissions vision but also demonstrates General Motors’ unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said President and CEO of GM Mexico, Francisco Garza. “We are also very proud that this electric SUV is produced at our Ramos Arizpe manufacturing complex,” he added.
Notably, the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will go on sale in Mexico this summer in a single configuration with a FWD powertrain and the top-of-the-line RS trim level. The version would be equivalent to the model’s 2RS trim in the United States and has a full suite of class-leading technology and safety features, including the Virtual Cockpit system with a 17.7-inch screen and the standard Chevrolet Safety Assist suite.
Interestingly, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV RS with FWD for Mexico uses a more powerful Ultium Drive engine than the models with that propulsion system announced in the US market. GM Mexico revealed that the only configuration of the new 2024 Equinox EV that will be sold in that country has a maximum power of 180 kW or 241 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, which contrasts with the 213 horsepower approved by the American version.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will begin its online pre-sale period in Mexico on June 24 and will begin its deliveries to local customers during the month of August, when it is scheduled to arrive in Mexico’s Chevrolet EV dealer network. The zero-emission crossover has a three-year or 60,000 km warranty and an eight-year warranty for the Ultium Battery package. Here is the price of the 2024 Equinox RS for Mexico:
- 2024 Equinox RS FWD: 829,900 pesos (about $46,150 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Equinox RS FWD in Pre-Sale: 799,900 pesos (about $44,490 USD)

LOTS of charging stations in MX, I’m sure. LOL.
Indeed, this has the NACS /j1772 charger which is the most popular charrger in Mexico, easy to charge to and to find.
Contrary to Latin America where they used euro and Chinese chargers mostly.
Now why the hell would they put a better performing FWD version outside the US?
The reason is simple, to sell more. The Equinox EV will be a great selling EV as much as its gasoline model which is GM’s best selling SUV for 20 years. I have a 2009 model with the 3.4 L V6.
