General Motors has released a Safety Recall for a very small number of 2024 Chevy Blazer EV units due to an issue with a front suspension component.
“General Motors is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EVs for a manufacturing defect involving the right front lower control link,” the automaker stated. “The safety and satisfaction of our customers are our highest priorities and we’re working to remedy this matter as quickly as possible.”
The problem: Affected Blazer EV units may have a condition where the right front lower control link contains a manufacturing defect that may cause it to fracture.
The hazards: If the right front lower control link where to fracture completely while the affected vehicle is in use, the driver may have reduced control of the vehicle, which subsequently could increase the risk of an accident.
The fix: Certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected vehicles and replace the right front lower control link, as necessary. It should take techs a little less than 30 minutes to complete this fix.
Affected components: Right front lower control link.
Affected vehicles:
Number of affected vehicles: A total of 83 units are affected by the recall. In addition, General Motors has enacted a stop-sale order on Blazer EV units covered by this Safety Recall. Following the publication of this article, GM reached out to us, indicating that it is not aware of any field incidents related to this defect, and that the vast majority of affected units are in dealer possession or in transit to them.
Owners should: General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their local GM dealer. Any owners who are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls or other actions that may be active on it. Apparently still half-baked.
I love GM cars especially as of late but if there is one thing I learned with them is that when it comes to their cars the rule of “Never buy a new car the first year it comes out” especially applies here.
If you don’t buy a Chevy model by the 3rd or 4th year they usually scrap it and start all over again with a “new” model.
Vega, chevette, lumina, sonic, Aveo cobalt, Citation, Impala, nova, Monte Carlo, hhr, etc etc , whereas Honda and Toyota keep making the same models better every year. Corolla/Accord…..Civic/Camry that they have been making and improving every year for 50 years. How many billions has GM Ford, Chrysler spent on research and development of new models every few years.
The Chevette was around for about 10 years and was ridiculously outdated by the time they killed it.
The Aveo was replaced by its next-gen model, the Sonic, which needed a new name so you’d think it was worth the extra money that the UAW made it cost.
Made in South Korea. Want to try again ?
The Aveo was made in Korea. They moved it here and renamed it Sonic. What’s your point?
The rest of the world continued calling it Aveo.
Name changes are nothing new for GM. The Vega > Monza > Cavalier> Cobalt > Cruze was the same deal.
Has a bad reputation, so they change the name, over and over at each redesign.
Cheapest parts from lowest bidders. Then few quality checks it appears.
GM still suffers from Supply Chain and QC issues, when are those VP’s getting fired?
Impala from 2000 to 2021? Not a bad run
Impala from 1958 to 1985. Not a bad run
This is the reason why no matter what brand of car I buy I wait a year or two for the bugs to be worked out. Toyota is also having trouble with their twin turbo V6 in the tundra. Besides we are happy with our 2020 Equinox and 2019 Enclave both run and drive excellent 👍🏻!
Agree, we have a 19 Nox and a 12 Silverado and both have been great vehicles. I am actually hesitant to buy new ones for fear they won’t be as good.
Jeez… the Blazer EV cant catch a break? GM need to manage and monitor this EV crossover carefully to assure its competitiveness in the market, and not let it slip into negative perception.
Why is a Recall so bad. Hi Toyota Goons. If you want to talk recalls the Toyota RAV 4 had over 10. So put your money with your mouth is . This car has had 9 less recalls then Toyota products.
