After GM pulled the sheets on the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision, GM Authority learned the crossover would get two new paint colors for the model year, namely Calypso Blue Metallic (color code GZC) and Smokey Amethyst Metallic (color code G88) while dropping two others, Rich Garnet Metallic (color code G4Q) and Sapphire Metallic (color code GGH). Here’s the full rundown on Smokey Amethyst.
Smokey Amethyst Metallic is identified with color code G88 and touch-up paint number WA-185J and is included among the eight paint colors available on the 2024 Buick Envision. The complete palette for the crossover appears below (color codes in parenthesis):
- Cinnabar Metallic (GEJ)
- Ebony Twilight Metallic (GB8)
- Moonstone Gray Metallic (GZA)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- White Frost Tricoat (GE8)
- Calypso Blue Metallic (GZC – new for 2024)
- Smokey Amethyst Metallic (G88 – new for 2024)
Smokey Amethyst Metallic paint can be ordered for all trim levels of the 2024 Envision. Pricing depends on trim, with the color priced at $495 for the Preferred and Sport Touring trim levels and offered on the Avenir at no additional charge. It can be combined with all of the crossover’s 2024 interior colorways.
As a reminder, the following interior colorways can be ordered in conjunction with the 2024 Buick Envision:
- Ebony with Ebony accents
- Sandstone with Ebony accents
- Ebony with Sky Cool Gray and Ebony accents
- Garnet with Ebony accents
- Cool Gray with Slate Blue accents
The 2024 Buick Envision’s reworked exterior, which includes a new front fascia and grille, incorporates some of the styling cues first revealed on the Buick Wildcat EV concept vehicle. The interior also features a fully digital infotainment screen that extends from the gauge cluster to the center console, while other cockpit changes include new trim and a three-spoke steering wheel.
One powerplant now gives the Envision more power, specifically the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission is equipped as standard to put the power to the pavement. The 2024 model year features AWD on every trim, with the previous standard FWD dropped from the design.
The GM E2 platform continues to underpin the Buick Envision, with the vehicle rolling off the assembly line at the GM-SAIC Jinqiao Plant in Shanghai, China.

…it’s “Purple”.
Nice.
I was purple’n my cars when purple wasn’t cool
It’s still not cool………you’ll never see one on the street, just like the original 16/17 Envision
I really like the improved color choices… including this purple (YES!), & the lighter color interiors. However, I still don’t like that this Buick is made in China… sorry.
It’s not bad. It looks more like Plum, so I’d have to see it in person.
I like it
I love this color. I think it was available on the 2nd generation Lacrosse.
BTW, I think the 2024 Envision Avenir wheels are horrible. Previous MY wheels were so much nicer.
Yes yes, l love the new color. Would had loved that color if it was a choice. My first Buick , Sept. 2023. And I like my first Buick.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
From what I understand it’s made in China.
The Chinese manufacturing doesn’t bother me since several American cars have some non-domestic sourced parts. If there’s quality and reliability in the product, it’s worth a look.
So to put it another way, the Envision comes in blue, purple, red, black, grey, and 2 shades of white
I do wish this purple was the actual color, but from what I see on YouTube this color comes out looking more pink ~ and I once considered this, but now knowing the purple shown is not accurate, means I’m going with a different vehicle now.
I thought Cinnabar Red was dropped. It’s a beautiful shade of red. This Smokey Amethyst is a beautiful color, too, and it gives the Envision a really upscale look. Are the ’24 models in dealer showrooms yet? I’ve been waiting for Buick to start a marketing campaign for the Envision, but there’s nary a peep. Labor Day weekend?
