The 2024 Chevy Traverse introduces an all-new third generation for the crossover, complete with a long list of changes and updates, including a new interior, the new off-road-focused Z71 trim level, new tech features, and of course, new exterior styling. Part of the 2024 Traverse exterior design overhaul is a variety of unique styling features to differentiate the various trim levels. Critically, these include a unique taillight treatment for the 2024 Chevy Traverse RS.
Although the overall taillight shape is more or less identical between the various 2024 Traverse trims, the 2024 Chevy Traverse RS features clear taillight lenses, whereas the rest of the trim level lineup features red taillight lenses. LED lighting elements are used across the board as standard.
GM describes the RS taillights as “uplevel with walk-up/exit animation.” This “uplevel” description makes sense, given the RS and Premier are considered the two uplevel trims in the new third-generation Traverse lineup. Looking ahead, the new 2025 Traverse Premier will also feature clear taillights. GM Authority was the first to report that the Traverse premier would launch for the 2025 model year.
Also notable is the fact that the unique 2024 Traverse RS taillights echo similar unique treatments applied to models in Buick’s range of vehicles, such as the Buick Enclave Avenir, once again offering distinctive features across its various brands while maintaining a cohesive design language.
Further features of the 2024 Chevy Traverse RS include 22-inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, a mesh grille, black trim, and RS badging. These elements combine to give the RS trim a sportier look compared to the rest of the lineup.
The 2024 Chevy Traverse lineup includes four trim levels total – LS, LT, Z71, and RS. The previously available High Country trim has been dropped, while the new Z71 trim level is aimed at off-road enthusiasts.
As for tech, the 2024 Traverse offers GM Super Cruise, while Chevy Safety Assist is included as standard.
Under the hood, the 2024 Traverse is powered by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, producing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with the GM eight-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive equipped as standard, and all-wheel drive offered as optional.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Traverse takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
