General Motors unveiled the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 early last year, showing off an overhauled interior, a bevy of tech features, and revised exterior styling. A large portion of the new look is around the front end, where the 2024 XT4 shows off revised lighting with a stack of three light bezels in the sides of the fascia to provide the primary forward illumination. Notably, only one of the three in each cluster actually provides illumination, despite initial press images indicating that all three light up.
The initial confusion stemmed from pre-production images that depicted the XT4 with three distinct square lighting elements on each side of the front fascia. These images suggested a new lighting aesthetic that aligned with Cadillac’s push towards more modern design cues. However, following the vehicle’s launch, the lower two squares on each side appear to only serve a decorative purpose.
GM Authority reader Mike W. reached out to us asking why the refreshed XT4 incorporates a trio of lights per side in pictures, stating that they had only seen the top light in each cluster illuminated in vehicles out in the real world. GM Authority contacted Cadillac which confirmed that only the top lighting element in the stack of three actually illuminates.
“The images that were originally released reflected a pre-production ‘show’ model,” a Cadillac spokesperson told GM Authority. “As we got closer to launch, our exterior design changed.”
Externally, the 2024 Cadillac XT4 also features new alloy wheels, available in 18-inch and 20-inch designs, while three new color options are offered as well, specifically Emerald Lake Metallic, Midnight Sky Metallic, and Deep Sea Metallic.
Inside, the XT4 sports an impressive overhaul with a 33-inch, 9K-resolution LED color touchscreen inspired by the Cadillac Lyriq, enhancing its tech-forward appeal. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.
Under the hood, you’ll find the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, which is managed by GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. The GM E2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas.

Comments
1. Why have them in the fascia if they don’t function? Make that area a cooling duct instead or just a fake grille design.
2. I’d imagine someone smarter than me could develop an aftermarket option to make them functional.
There are only one set of lights in the housing. The article is incorrect, there are black “tabs” in place of the two lower lighting elements.
They also show front parking sensors, which are not offered on the 2024 XT4 for some non-sensical reason. They showed us the Chinese market car.
Leaving off those 2 lights saved GM .75 per car and the stock when up .003%!
Would be nice if the bottom row could serve as fog lights.
