Aftermarket performance tuner Vengeance Racing recently announced the imminent arrival of “the ultimate road race” Pontiac Trans Am, complete with a long list of performance modifications designed specifically for track day dominance. Based on a pre-facelift fourth-generation model, Vengeance Racing tweaked the Trans Am to produce a claimed 690 horsepower, courtesy of a thoroughly worked-over 468-cubic-inch V8. Now, this Trans Am looks poised to hit the local road course with, well, a vengeance.
Under the hood, the Trans Am houses a formidable 468-cubic-inch (7.6L) LSx V8 built by Late Model Engines. This powerhouse includes high-performance components like Brodix BS7 custom CNC ported six-bolt cylinder heads and a Dailey Engineering three-stage billet dry sump oil system. It’s also equipped with a custom LS7 billet aluminum intake manifold from LME and a Vengeance Racing valve cover kit, enhancing both performance and visual appeal. Engine output was measured at 690 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque on Vengeance Racing’s chassis dyno.
The vehicle’s exhaust system features American Racing Headers with a two-inch longtube header system and a Jet-Hot Extreme 2500 coating, leading to a Vibrant four-inch race muffler. Fuel delivery is supported by Vengeance Racing 1,000cc fuel injectors and a dual DeatschWerks 350lph surge tank, alongside a standard Racetronix 255lph in-tank fuel pump.
Obviously, the chassis and drivetrain weren’t overlooked. The Trans Am utilizes a UMI Performance LS FBody road race K-member and a sophisticated Heidts Camaro/Firebird IRS system. Routing the go is a Samsonas RWD sequential six-speed transmission and a Quarter Master triple disc clutch kit, providing razor-sharp gear changes and reliable power transfer to the pavement.
Externally, the car retains much of its classic aesthetic but with a handful of modern tweaks to suit its new performance level. The interior is race-ready, featuring an AiM MXG 1.2 dash logger for real-time performance data and a Holley 554-114 Dominator ECU for precise control over the engine’s parameters.
Of course, while a list of parts is good, a lap time is better. We can’t wait to see what it’ll do on the road course.

I’ve always liked the looks of this generation Trans Am…oh what Pontiac could have been if GM didn’t kill it off. This was always better looking then the Camaro of the same generation and I owned a 2002 Camaro Z28 that I loved and miss! Maybe that’s one of the reasons Pontiac had to go most not all of their cars where better looking then Chevy. Now I wouldn’t want all the racing stuff this one has but LS6 would be nice.
I could imagine this car having the body close to that of a Ferrari if the Firebird still existed today.
