The Kia EV3 was initially unveiled as a concept car at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. Now, Kia has unveiled the production-spec EV3, which could rival the Chevy Bolt EV in the subcompact all-electric vehicle segment. Although currently unconfirmed, rumor has it the Kia EV3 will arrive in the U.S. market just in time to challenge the next-gen Bolt.
The Kia EV3 offers an estimated range of 600km (372 miles), with DC Fast Charging capability that can bring the battery state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. The vehicle’s design and propulsion technology draw inspiration from the Kia EV9, but tailored to a smaller, more affordable package.
With regard to styling options, the Kia EV3 offers nine exterior colors, including two new exclusive shades – Aventurine Green and Terracotta. Inside, the Kia EV3 seats five passengers, with 25 liters (0.88 cubic-feet) of frunk space and 460 liters (16.2-cubic-feet) rear load capacity.
The vehicle is also equipped with a 30-inch widescreen display, which integrates a 12.3-inch gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch AVN display. Eco-conscious materials adorn the seats and surfaces, including recycled fabric and PET plastic.
The EV3 rides on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), with the standard battery capacity set at 58.3kWh. Meanwhile, the EV3 Long Range model is equipped with an 81.4kWh battery. Both configurations utilize a 150kW electric motor capable of propelling the EV to 62 mph in roughly 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 106 mph.
The EV3 is set to launch this summer in South Korea, with plans to launch in Europe during the second half of 2024. While there are reports that the EV3 may be sold in the U.S., Kia has yet to provide official confirmation as such. That said, it’s anticipated that the EV3 could arrive in the U.S. market around the same timeframe as the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, which is slated for the 2026 model year.

I just don’t think the new Kia/Hyundai styling is good. The new Santa Fe is so ugly and the previous one was actually nice looking. Although I’m not real crazy about my Bolt looks, I do think it looks better than this. The new Equinox EV is stunning compared to this. I really hope the new Bolt will stay more true to the small hatch form and NOT go full on CUV. If Chevy does the Bolt right, it will do well against this and many others.
Will it have CarPlay and Android Auto?
The front and back look like “Marvin the manically depressed robot” from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe…
The sad state of interiors. Bland with a ipad (now horizontal at least) is the norm. Thanks to tesla and china for cutting the interior to a kindergarten exercise.
No one is forcing OEMs to copy Tesla.
The seat/interior color looks just like the Bolt when it first came out.
Hopefully this vehicle will show GM that they cannot just place a new battery on the current Bolt and call it a day.
It better be modern looking inside and out
Seriously if the bar is a tv set and a wheel, how could they fail? Cause that is this things interior.
