GM rival Stellantis is poised to offer a new, affordable, all-electric Jeep model in the U.S. “very soon.” The new all-electric model will be priced around $25,000 and will rival the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, the latter of which is expected to launch for the 2026 model year. The announcement of the new, affordable Jeep EV arrives amid a growing number of automakers (including Kia and VW) announcing affordable EVs of their own to be available very soon. This surge in affordable EV models is also a response to a flood of inexpensive Chinese EVs now hitting the market.
Per a report from CNBC, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares highlighted the upcoming Jeep EV during the recent Bernstein investor conference.
“In the same way we brought the 20,000 Euro Citroen e-C3 [to Europe], [the U.S.] will have a $25,000 Jeep very soon,” Tavares said.
Although official details are still forthcoming, the cheap electric vehicle could be a revised version of a Citroen EV (either the e-C3 or the bigger, longer-range e-C4). Such a strategy would be similar to that implemented for the Jeep Renegade, which is essentially a Fiat 500X with styling in line with the broader Jeep brand.
The upcoming low-cost EV will stand in contrast to more expensive models like the brand’s 4XE plug-in hybrids and the Wagoneer S, a premium all-electric crossover set to launch in North America later this year with 600 horsepower and a starting price of $71,995 for the Launch Edition. It should also be mentioned that the Avenger EV is an electric Jeep already on sale in Europe at a starting price of around $37k.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration recently announced that it will implement a 100 percent tariff on new Chinese-manufactured EVs imported to the U.S., a move aimed at bolstering domestic manufacturing and combating Chinese industrial practices considered to be unfair.

The Avenger is cute as heck but I would not buy an EV version. They also sell a gas version, IIRC.
$25K from Jeep? Sure they will.
I am assuming that Jeep means they will make a vehicle that starts at $32,500 and be eligible for the IRA Rebate which will then make the starting price $25,000
My concern is that many automakers (Maybe even Tesla) will have vehicles at that starting price which will be all new from the ground up designs and GM will be coming with older tech in the so called updated Bolt.
Stellantis certainly won’t build anything in the US unless absolutely necessary, and it certainly won’t be under $50K. If it happens (big if), this will be another rebranded Fiat-like vehicle that will likely meet the needs of a very small customer base.
I predict if Trump gets back in office instead of killing the EV with big oil he will remove the tariffs to do the same allowing the Chinese products to take down any company that can’t compete. And if that does not work he will do plan B. I hope not as too much investments are in place for the future to not come to pass this time whether they like it or not.
I think tariffs are one of the only things Trump and Biden agree on, even though Biden is scared to say it out loud. I do not think Trump would drop any existing tariffs. He is not a fan of China’s predatory practices/intellectual property theft.
Why?
They need to get back int the smaller ICE market as well as this BS.
Chrysler and Dodge have more left over 2023’s on their lots than any other maker. Local dealer still has 4 Chargers and a $53K Challenger, all V8. They seem to have ridden those models a couple of years too long. I don’t think the coming models will sell with the V6, even if it is a “Hurricane” or even less sales for the EV version. What macho Dodge person wants to say he has a 6 cylinder instead of a Hemi? They have issues. Hornets also piled up everywhere. They seem to be lost.
All made in China and Mexico!!
I’ll never buy a EV !!
