The 2024 Chevy Corvette debuted the fifth model year of the eighth-generation C8, marked by the launch of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray as well as several minor updates and changes from the 2023 model year. The E-Ray is notable as the first Vette variant to feature a hybrid powertrain, and is also the first AWD Corvette model.
The Bow Tie offers an extensive selection of colors for the 2024 Corvette, with 14 exterior paint choices available to buyers of the popular Chevy sports car. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at which colors people prefer for their ’24 Vette, as of April 1st.
In a surprise twist, Torch Red (color code GKZ) has been dethroned from its first-place position, which it has held for every model year since the Corvette C8’s debut with the 2020 model year. Arctic White (color code G8G) achieved the first place in popularity for the 2024 Corvette Stingray at 15 percent of sales, with Torch Red now in second place at 14 percent.
Black (color code GBA) is tied for third place with Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat (GPH) at 11 percent of Stingray units sold so far. Filling out the list of the top five colors for the entry-level trim is Hypersonic Gray Metallic (GA7) at 8 percent of purchases. The Stingray accounts for 76 percent of 2024 Corvette production mix, with the full list of color preferences shown here:
Percentage | |
---|---|
Black | 13 |
Torch Red | 13 |
Arctic White | 13 |
Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat | 10 |
Hypersonic Gray Metallic | 8 |
Amplify Orange Tintcoat | 7 |
Sea Wolf Gray Tricoat | 6 |
Carbon Flash Metallic | 6 |
Riptide Blue Metallic | 5 |
Rapid Blue | 5 |
Accelerate Yellow Metallic | 4 |
Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic | 4 |
Silver Flare Metallic | 3 |
Cacti Green | 2 |
For the 2024 Chevy Corvette Z06, the most popular color is a three-way tie between Black, Torch Red, and Arctic White at 13 percent each among sales through April 1st, 2024. Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat and Hypersonic Gray Metallic round out the top five for the Z06 variant at 10 percent and 8 percent of sales respectively.
The Z06 accounts for 22 percent of overall Corvette production mix for the model year, or about a third of the number of Stingray Vettes produced. This production is split 50/50 between Coupes and Convertibles, unlike the Stingray, which has a higher percent of Coupe units. The table below shows the popularity of Z06 paint choices:
Percentage | |
---|---|
Black | 13 |
Torch Red | 13 |
Arctic White | 13 |
Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat | 10 |
Hypersonic Gray Metallic | 8 |
Amplify Orange Tintcoat | 7 |
Sea Wolf Gray Tricoat | 6 |
Carbon Flash Metallic | 6 |
Riptide Blue Metallic | 5 |
Rapid Blue | 5 |
Accelerate Yellow Metallic | 4 |
Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic | 4 |
Silver Flare Metallic | 3 |
Cacti Green | 2 |
Finally, the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray shows yet another pattern of favorite colors among current sales. Riptide Blue Metallic leads at 14 percent of sales, followed by Arctic White and Seawolf Gray Tricoat at 13 percent each. Torch Red comes in fourth in the top five at 12 percent, while fifth place is held by the 9 percent of units ordered with Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat.
While the E-Ray’s results vary significantly from the other variants, the model only accounts for 2 percent of Corvette production mix. The low numbers produced may be skewing results, with Riptide Blue Metallic E-Rays possibly coming off the assembly line first because that exterior paint color is the model’s halo color.
The table following covers the E-Ray‘s paint color popularity:
Percentage | |
---|---|
Riptide Blue Metallic | 14 |
Arctic White | 13 |
Sea Wolf Gray Tricoat | 13 |
Torch Red | 12 |
Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat | 9 |
Black | 7 |
Cacti Green | 7 |
Carbon Flash Metallic | 5 |
Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic | 5 |
Silver Flare Metallic | 5 |
Hypersonic Gray Metallic | 4 |
Amplify Orange Tintcoat | 3 |
Rapid Blue | 3 |
Accelerate Yellow Metallic | 2 |
New-for-2024 colors are also more popular for the E-Ray than the other variants. Cacti Green accounts for 7 percent of E-Ray sales, but only 2 percent of Z06 and 3 percent of Stingray purchases. Seawolf Gray Tricoat is another color more popular on the hybrid Vette. This may be a result of GM producing the E-Ray in batches, with final color preferences potentially different once production wraps up.
Notably, production of the current Vette is ongoing, so final color popularity could be slightly different than the current results suggest. Here’s a look at the overall production mix for the 2024 Corvette so far:
Model | Stingray | Z06 | E-Ray | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total Production Mix (Percentage) | 76 | 22 | 2 | |||
Coupe | Convertible | Coupe | Convertible | Coupe | Convertible | |
Model Production Mix (Percentage) | 58 | 42 | 50 | 50 | 40 | 60 |
1LT/1LZ | 38 | 13 | 10 | 2 | 4 | 1 |
2LT/2LZ | 42 | 43 | 22 | 16 | 26 | 19 |
3LT/3LZ | 20 | 44 | 68 | 32 | 70 | 80 |
While a large selection of paint colors has been a Corvette hallmark for years, this appears to be changing with the upcoming 2025 Chevy Corvette. The 2025 model year will feature only 10 paint colors overall, down from the 14 choices that has been typical for several years.
Seven paint colors will be dropped for 2025, including some that made the top five lists for the various models in 2024. The colors slated for elimination include Accelerate Yellow Metallic (GD0), Amplify Orange Tintcoat (GC5), Cacti Green (GVR), Carbon Flash Metallic (GAR), Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic (G9F), Hypersonic Gray Metallic (GA7) and Silver Flare Metallic (GSJ).
As a reminder, the 2024 Corvette is motivated by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine developing 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque for the C8 Stingray, the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine providing 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque for the C8 Z06, and the aforementioned LT2 engine plus a front-mounted electric motor cranking out 655 horsepower for the C8 E-Ray.
All Corvette C8 models are underpinned by the GM Y2 platform, with production taking place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

I never considered a Corvette till the C8 came out for 2020, as I talked about it with the wife, she said “It’s a yellow Vette or no Vette”. Finally we have a 2024 Accelerate Yellow Stingray coupe 3LT in our drive way….LG! 😉
Corvette colors are interesting.
In the past Torch red and other reds have always done well.
Black and blue do well.
In the used market gray and silver are always for sales.
White is not common and Yellow is love it or hate it. Often you can get a better price on yellow. I like it but as a whole not everyone.
I bought a Torch Red and finding a Red Convertible even as the most popular color is not an easy find.
The one thing with red it is easy to care for and touch up. My black car is all work.
@C8.R – You and I agree on many things that you’ve posted over the years. But, I do have to respectfully disagree with you on white Corvettes. First, white is the only color that has been offered on EVERY Corvette since 1953. While the popularity has ebbed and flowed over the past 71 years, it’s hardly ever been uncommon. As we all know, all 300 1953 Corvettes were Polo White. Polo White was the top color choice in ’54 and ’55, too. The best selling color in 1958 and 1959 was Snowcrest White. Number 1 in 1960 and 1961 was Ermine White, Number 1 in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1980 and 1981 was Classic White. White remained very popular in the C4 years (especially the late C4 Arctic White), and during the C5 years. It slipped a bit during the C6 years (except 2013 – Arctic White was required for 60th Anniversary Edition cars). Arctic White was STRONG during the C7’s reign, with it being the number one color in 2015 through 2019. It obviously continues to perform in the current C8 generation, too.
You have the wrong chart for the Stingray!
Guess there will be several leftover buckets of the washed out looking cacti on eBay. Strange that it was dead last for Stringray & Z06 at 2% and the e ray had a 7% take.
I find it amazing that on 2% of the production run is E-Rays? At that rate I will be waiting 2 years before they will take my order. And for 2025 they will be adding the ZR1 to the same production line which is only going to make ordering even more difficult for buyers. GM needs to invest less in marketing Corvettes models and more in the production of the vehicle.
Never lusted after a Corvette since the ‘67 427, but I had to have the ‘23 C8 – in Caffeine – wouldn’t have any of the “crayola colors”.
Love the cacti green on corvette c8 imho.
If they offer a green color make it so you don’t have to squint to make sure it’s GREEN!
SOO GLAD I HAVE A 2024 STINGRAY LT3 CONVERTABLE INTHE RARE CACTI GREEN COLOR IN MY GARAGE IN ELKHART LAKE. THE BLACK ACCENTS AND BLACK/BRONZE FRUNK STRIPE AND THE BRONZE RIMS SET THIS COLOR OFF. HAD IT OUT ON THE RA TRACK. WHAT A FANTASTIC CAR
