GM has issued a customer satisfaction program for certain units of the 2024 GMC Acadia and 2024 GMC Terrain, offering a fix for an issue in which a defect in the transmission case can cause a fluid leak.
In addition to the 2024 GMC Acadia and GMC Terrain, vehicle models from the other three core GM brands, including Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac, are also affected by this issue and are covered by the customer satisfaction programs.
Customer Satisfaction Programs number N232433891 and number N232433890 apply to GMC Acadia and GMC Terrain units that are equipped with FWD (RPO code FWD) and AWD (RPO code F48) respectively. General Motors has provided dealers with a list of VINs for the affected vehicles, though verification through the Global Warranty Management system should still be carried out.
The issue involves a defect in which the transmission case may be porous around one of the mounting bolt holes. This porosity can cause fluid to leak out of the transmission case, with the potential to cause the problems associated with a low transmission fluid level.
Dealers are instructed to replace the transmission case with a new, non-defective case, stopping the leak. The repair must be applied to any GMC Acadia or GMC Terrain unit that either enters the dealership’s inventory or is brought in for service. The fix is to be applied free of charge regardless of vehicle ownership, age, or other factors, with the program available through June 30th, 2026.
Dealers are to supply courtesy vehicles to vehicle owners as necessary during the repairs. GM will send notification letters to owners of record for the affected vehicles both in the U.S. and Canada, while dealers are responsible for sending notification letters for exported vehicles outside those regions.
As a reminder, the Acadia is motivated exclusively by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, mated to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Terrain cradles the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine supplying 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque while coupled to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Under Ms Barra, GM is withering on the vine or inexorably melting down. Choose whichever metaphor works best for you.
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, All the King’s horses and and all the King’s men, Couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty together again. GM has become to today’s Humpty Dumpty.
They need to release a fix for quality control!
GM tried to do too much from EVs to self-driving cars to PHEVs that they forgot what made them great: gasoline vehicles.
That’s Unprofessional Grade.
Never buy a first year model regardless of the brand.
That’s what I’ve been telling my wife, she wants to ditch her ’22 Acadia Denali for a ’24…told her to wait for the 2025 models, let ’em find out where the bugs are.
Ok, I may have missed it somewhere, but I have to ask: “Mated to the GM 8 speed transmission” WHAT 8 speed transmission??? In years past, Acadia had a 6T70 6-speed and later a 9T65 9-speed front drive transmission. Plus a few years ago they sourced a front drive ZF 8 speed unit for the Caddy XT6, but what is this new front drive 8 speed and why does it seem to be such a secret? At one point I read it was the same old 9T65 with the computer ordered to ignore one of the gears, but I doubt that.
So what is it?
