GM Releases Fix For 2024 Cadillac XT4, XT5 and XT6 Transmission Fluid Leak

The General is taking steps to correct a potential defect in certain vehicle models’ transmission cases that can possibly cause a transmission fluid leak by issuing a customer satisfaction program and a fix for certain 2024 Cadillac XT4, 2024 Cadillac XT5, and 2024 Cadillac XT6 units.

The far-ranging customer satisfaction program also includes some models from other core General Motors brands, specifically Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC, in addition to the Cadillac XT4 and other XT-series crossovers.

The Cadillac XT4, Cadillac XT5, and Cadillac XT6 models involved include those configured with FWD (RPO code FWD) and AWD (RPO code F48), each covered by a separate but otherwise identical Customer Satisfaction Program. Number N232433891 applies to front-wheel units and number N232433890 to all-wheel vehicles. GM has also issued a list of VIN numbers to dealers for affected vehicles, though the total number involved is unclear.

In affected vehicles the transmission case may be subject to porosity around one of the holes for the component’s mounting bolts. Transmission fluid can, in some cases, leak through this porous area, possibly resulting in inadequate fluid inside the transmission.

The fix, which consists of replacing the transmission case, is offered free of charge to all current Cadillac XT4, XT5, and XT6 owners through June 30th, 2026. Dealers must identify affected vehicles brought in for repairs or arrive in their inventory and immediately apply the remedy before releasing the vehicle.

Courtesy vehicles should be offered to XT4, XT5, and XT6 owners if necessary while the repair is carried out. GM intends to mail notification letters to all U.S. and Canadian owners of record with one of the affected vehicles. Overseas, dealers should send the provided notification letter to owners of imported Cadillacs involved in the program.

As a reminder, the Cadillac XT4 is motivated by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine paired with GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. The LSY is also one of two available powerplants for the Cadillac XT5, with the other being the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine and cog swaps provided by the same nine-speed transmission. The 2024 XT6 has the same engine choices as the XT5.

  1. No wonder stock prices went down. Sounds like a lot of vehicles will be effected including my wife’s trailblazer . Who’s running quality control.

  2. “Customer Satisfaction Program”
And that’s different from a manufacturing defect covered by the Vehicle Warranty in what way?
And a “porous area” … anything like a CRACK ?
Here’s a thought. If you spent less time on Marketing “word games” and more time on Quality Control maybe you’d have less to apologize for and you’d need fewer “customer satisfaction programs”.

  3. How about a customer satisfaction extending the crappie 8 spd, transmission warranty. That would say a lot to customers instead of fighting with dealerships to cover know issues

  4. We have owned 10 prior Cadillacs over the past 30 years. We will NEVER BUY ANOTHER CADILLAC AND WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH WOODHOUSE again. Brand new XT6 , drove 900 miles and the transmission went out. Along with rattles in the doors. This car is a lemon and we want our money back so we can buy a car that works. We have a loner car. It;’s now been 2 weeks and the Woodhouse has our car and no idea of what they can do. WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK AND MOVE ON. We are ready to go to the TV stations asking them for help.

  5. I had my 2024 for 3 days and the transmission failed. It’s been at the dealership for over 3 months. There’s no end in sight.
i have a loaner but I want my car, actually the Sirius and On Star have lapsed on my car. The loaner has less features but at least it runs. The dealership says it’s a problem with the transmission, the lines and the radiator–parts aren’t available. A car with 93 miles shouldn’t have this happen. Appears to be no quality control.

  6. I had my XT4 for one month when the transmission gave out. Flat bedded the car to the dealer and was told it’s a transmission issue. They have my car for 68 days so far and unless I call them to get an update I wouldn’t know what is going on. So disappointed in Cadillac and would never buy another one.

  7. Just got word that the dealership has all of the parts and are working on my car. The dealership has been fine. The problem is with Cadillac. I was just sent a list of documents for a re-purchase. I will wait until I see if mine works since I don’t want to order a new one and have the same issues.
