For those readers who may have missed it, custom car builder Flat Out Autos in Jonesboro, Arkansas is offering customers a chance to own a modern-day GMC Jimmy. The custom shop is basing its modern Jimmy build on the current GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck. Now, Flat Out Autos has shared photos showing one of its modern GMC Jimmy builds in striking Cacti Green exterior paint.
The pictures reveal the build mid-process, but seem to indicate that the vehicle is getting close to completion. The photos reveal a GMC Sierra front end paired with a chopped body, as well as exposed rear seats. The bright Cacti Green paint is complemented by black badging, a black chrome grille, black wheels, and other dark-colored detailing, giving the vehicle a bold and rugged look.
The build starts with a GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab, and incorporates a shortened frame and a modified body. The back of the cabin is cut out to expose it to the bed, while a roll bar and bench seat are installed behind the front seats. The build typically includes a camper shell, completing the styling.
Inside, the vehicle offers modern comforts and conveniences. The interior is expected to include heated and ventilated front bucket seats, a wireless device charger, air conditioning, cruise control, and connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the hood, Flat Out Autos’ modern-day GMC Jimmy is likely equipped with the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Output is harnessed through GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission, ensuring robust performance both on and off-road.
Flat Out Autos has a history of creating some top-shelf GM-flavored builds, and this modern GMC Jimmy is no exception. By utilizing the GMC Sierra 1500 platform, the shop was able to blend contemporary technology and design with the nostalgic charm of the original GMC Jimmy. Check out the new photos right here:

MY EYES!!!! MY EYES!!!!! BAAAAAAARRRRRFFFFFF.
I saw Cacti Green on a Trax at the Chevy dealer near me a few weeks ago and I’ll pass. 🤢
Cacti will never be a eye catching color and thank god Corvette removed the color option already.
Hard pass on the baby snot color.
Nice truck. Bad color…
LOVE.IT. Awesome color! And with the saddle interior accents, it really ties together well. Looks great!
The color worked for GM in the 50’s and it will work again.
The Jimmy would be much better using an HD2500 donor with a DuraMax.
Love the color or hate it, at least this company is producing something of interest that gm wont.
Lol at the tiny windows, big ol body! Looks like one of those little plastic cars on electric tracks I would play with as a child. Beltlines are insane nowadays on vehicles.
Washed out Cacti green dropped for Corvette after on year, kind of like the short availability of Zeus Bronze and Caffeine. All three could refer to bodily functions of babies and the colors involved.
All one has to do is look at the success of Ford’s Cactus Gray and Toyota’s Lunar Rock colors, both similar to gm’s Cacti Green. Ranger, Bronco Sport, Bronco, Maverick… Cactus Gray is very popular on those Fords. And Lunar Rock? Try to go one day without seeing quite a few RAV4s, Tacomas, Tundras and Sequoias in Lunar Rock.
Cacti green is not a nice color…. period
A lot of work means big price. Guess it voids a lot of warranties?
