DXDT Racing went straight to Victory Lane in the GT World Challenge America division at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on May 18th and 19th, 2024. Tommy Milner and Alec Udell earned their second consecutive victory over the weekend, tag-teaming driving duties behind the wheel of the No. 63 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R.
After Saturday’s all-Pro qualifying question, Milner started the race in the third row with eyes set on pacing the Pro Am racers. He managed to keep up with them before he was called to the pits to trade places with Udell, who charged back onto the racing surface just three seconds behind the leader in the Pro division.
In just a quarter of an hour, Udell had run him down, and put the overall race leader in the rearview to boot shortly thereafter. He never looked back and flashed across the line after the 90-minute sprint uncontested in first. Milner took control of the No. 63 Corvette Racing machine for the first half of the second race before turning the controls over to Udell, who charged through the pack and winning by a healthy margin of 4.633 seconds.
“The biggest thing about being part of this program is helping this team with these new Corvettes for a little bit,” Milner said after the race. “They’ve done a great job so far with it and helping put the final touch on things just a little bit. Championships are one thing, but for me and Alec it’s just about helping this team to continue to grow, learn these cars and hopefully win some more races along the way.”
Meanwhile, Udell said, “It’s a very proven platform at this point, so to be a part of that process is really cool. To have the people to learn from like Bryan and Tommy with DXDT and all our people, it’s been more than I could ask for. I’m looking forward to where we can go from here.”
Meanwhile, DXDT’s second Corvette Racing entry, the No. 08 Vette of Bryan Sellers and Scott Smithson, finished 11th after suffering a flat tire early on that trapped them a lap down.
