As GM Authority has covered since 2021, General Motors is cooking up a high-performance variant of the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq. The new go-fast crossover is expected to be called the Cadillac Lyriq-V, and was originally slated for debut in conjunction with the 2024 model year. Now, however, it’s looking more likely that the Cadillac Lyriq-V will drop for the 2025 model year instead.
Anticipation for the official Cadillac Lyriq-V debut has been building for quite some time now, with GM dropping teasers and hints that, on the surface at least, point to the imminent reveal of the performance crossover. Unfortunately, that reveal has yet to manifest. Nevertheless, the new Lyriq-V is still believed to be headed down the pipeline, but is now anticipated for a 2025 model-year debut. Questioned about the Lyriq-V eventual debut, a Cadillac spokesperson provided the following statement: “While we are looking forward to continuing our commitment to V-Series, we don’t have anything to share today about future product launches.”
As one might expect, the Cadillac Lyriq-V will feature enhancements in power and design over the standard Lyriq models. Per previous GM Authority coverage, the Lyriq-V will boast additional output over that of the Cadillac Lyriq, which, in standard RWD guise, lays down 340 horsepower with 325 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the AWD Lyriq bumps these figures up to 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, sending the crossover the 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The 2024 Lyriq’s Velocity software upgrade bumps the torque rating to 524 pound-feet, lowering the 0-60 mph time to 4.4 seconds.
The Lyriq-V is expected to exceed all of these specifications, equipping the same AWD two-motor powertrain (RPO code X0E) as the Lyriq AWD, but with a unique high-performance calibration, potentially offering output similar to that of the Chevy Blazer EV SS, which boasts 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque.
In terms of design, the Lyriq-V will feature distinctive styling cues to differentiate it from its siblings. Expect a sportier aesthetic with a unique body kit that includes modified front and rear fascias and potentially exclusive color options and trim details. Inside, the vehicle will likely include upscale materials and bespoke elements.
The Cadillac Lyriq-V will ride on GM’s BEV3 platform, powered by GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors. While the exact range isn’t confirmed, it may slightly deviate from the Lyriq AWD’s 307 miles due to the performance enhancements and unique wheel/tire configurations.

All automakers, including GM, really need to stop fussing over EVs and PHEVs. Talk about throwing good money after bad.
Is this kind of like the rally edition of the Mach E? Who is this for? You think this is going to get the old ladies in the CUV market away rom their RAV4s and CRVs?
I would consider a V version of the Lyric as a future option. Cadillac had a great idea building performance versions of very capable sedans (starting with CTS, ATS, CT6 etc.) and then adding the Sport, V-Sport, Blackwing variants. Since most buyers are now opting for SUVs, Cadillac should expand that into their line up beyond the V-Blackwing Escalade. The competition is offering performance versions of everything, so Cadillac needs to step up the SUV capabilities if they want me (I daily drive an ATS and track a C6 Corvette) to be a future SUV customer, ICE or electric. I’d say the XT4 is a nice vehicle, but after test driving it, the platform and performance is not competitive (at least a V option, please!). If Cadillac only builds for the old ladies (and men), then that’s the only customers who will be buying them!
You guys sound like a room full of squares. Look at all the idiots who purchased the Tesla Model X and S. I’ve been waiting for an EV with style, a better build quality and I knew Cadillac would deliver. Also, the original engineer of the Tesla left and started Lucid because Musk was making a piece of Schitt. I currently drive an M model BMW and hate what the new EVs look like. Cadillac is definitely a nice alternative.
An EV-V doesn’t make much sense to me. Of course, nothing EV makes sense to me.
Me either Larry, haha.
Why does everyone suddenly want to race Station Wagons?

Sigh, this is yet another excreable GM EV destined to fail in the market place..
GM is starting to make me sick.
The V nor V Blackwing name should be applied to the electric vehicles. If ICE goes away, let it die with class and dignity.
It was already a crime they gave the name Blackwing to vehicles that don’t even feature the original Blackwing engine. V-Sport and V-Series were fine.
Honestly, I’m a bit let down by the figures. Feel that for the hp it should be more differentiated. With Cadillac have north of 600 hp and let the Blazer EV hanging around the 557hp.
The challenge I see with a V EV is do you go after better performance or better specs? Better specs are pretty easy with some software tweaks. Better performance may require something dramatic – like reducing the battery size. I have a bad feeling that the lyric V isn’t going to drive differently from a standard model except at the extremes.
EVs all have incredible acceleration. Give me torque for quickness, HP for top end speed, tight, high-end suspension to carve the canyons. Don’t want to be driving my grandmother’s high speed marshmallow ! I want a Cadillac Corvette . . .
I own a Lyriq , and am generally happy. I will be ordering the V once I can confirm final HP and Torque specs. Hopefully a little more range as well, although, that doesn’t seem to be happening. Perhaps a software update, will even help the performance.
