Cadillac Escalade IQ Shows Off Mesmerizing Light Animation: Video

Standing out in the world of vehicle design is no longer just about the sheetmetal – vehicle lighting can be just as important, with luxury EVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQ and Audi e-tron lineups offering impressive lighting animations. The Cadillac Escalade IQ is part of that growing trend as well, with the all-electric SUV’s front end well-equipped to put on a light show. Now, Caddy is showing off the Escalade IQ’s “light work” with the following brief video.

The front end of the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ.

The 16-second clip highlights the sophisticated lighting animation that emphasizes the luxury SUV’s advanced design and technology. It begins with the illuminated Cadillac emblem at the center of the grille, followed by a sequence where lower light signatures extend outward before revealing horizontal lighting elements flanking the grille. The upper corner lights and vertical side lights then come alive, creating a dynamic display. Accompanied by a futuristic electronic soundtrack, the video exemplifies the tech-heavy ethos of the Escalade IQ.

The video clip ends with Cadillac’s latest tagline – “Be Iconic.”

Turning to the vehicle itself, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is based on GM’s Ultium platform, with dual front and rear GM Ultium Drive motors producing up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. The luxury SUV can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in under five seconds, and offers up to 8,000 pounds of towing capacity. The Escalade IQ also boasts a 450-mile range thanks to its 200 kWh battery, which supports fast charging to add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

In addition to an eye-catching light show, the exterior of the Cadillac Escalade IQ shows off with optional 24-inch wheels and optional two-tone paint, while the interior is dominated by a 55-inch LED display. The GM Super Cruise system is offered for semi-autonomous driving.

Pricing starts around $130,000. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Detroit.

  6. Not sure that Software is GM’s Strongpoint now that they’ve laid off plenty of their IT people. Everyone who rides in my LYRIQ likes it better than I do. I find the new dashboard (with its obtuse touch screen – the worst of any GM screen I’ve seen to date) to be more trouble than its worth, but passengers like looking at it. The goofy lighting displays I’ve always seen as tacky, and they just drain mileage away from the vehicle since I park the thing in an attached garage and the thing is constantly ‘doing its thing’ as I move closer and further to the car. No other GM EV suffers from this ‘non-driving’ battery drain, but the IQ most likely does exactly the same thing.

The car slowly charges at the EVGO fast charger (about 72 kw on average), but I like that it is easy on its batteries – hopefully they should last several hundred thousand miles due to the relatively rare charge/discharge cycles, and the ‘slow’ charging rate. IQ should also benefit from this. But the IQ is far too expensive for what you get, while the ICE Escalades are somewhat affordable in their more basic trims.

Perhaps if it doesn’t sell, GM will offer a more stripped version and leave off this kind of gobbledygook.

I like the size of the LYRIQ vehicle, its acceptable range, the Heat Pump system, and the quiet ride, along with more than enough power considering its only the RWD model.

  7. If this silly light show is supposed to entice or impress me to consider purchase of one of these clown cars,
forget it, it ain’t going to happen.
Just one more excuse to not get an EV!

    1. These stupid ancillary antics by auto makers have nothing to do with EV’s, just wasting money and charging extra for it by mis-identifying where legitimate opportunities exist.

  8. Ooohhhhh, I’ll bet those lights make it drive soooo much better than all those lame-light vehicles.

  9. Well that’s just stupid.

  10. Anyone notice that all these new cars only have one headlight working at a time, lol. All that money for nothing special.
