Six months after the official reveal of the all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq, General Motors’ luxury brand has just announced that it will officially debut the upcoming all-electric crossover on May 29th in the United States.
This past weekend, Cadillac posted a teaser video on its social media platforms anticipating the imminent introduction of the all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq this Wednesday, May 29th, in the U.S. market. As such, the brand is planning an official event in Detroit at 12:00 PM ET to present the new 2025 Optiq for the first time to the press and the general North American public.
The teaser video presents a theme focused on “zippers” and begins with people closing different items such as a jacket, a purse and a bag. At the end, a woman unzips a car cover that shows the grille of the zero-emissions crossover with the brand’s illuminated logo, followed by the phrase “Get Ready For What’s Next.”
Although Cadillac didn’t name the vehicle it will introduce on the 29th, several details from the teaser video and its description confirm that it is in fact the all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq. In addition to the model’s distinctive slim grille and using its label in the description, the #OPTIQ hashtag and fine print clearly state which model will debut this week.
In particular, the all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq is Cadillac’s second all-electric global crossover and will expand the brand’s model portfolio in North America. In fact, the Optiq will be introduced as Cadillac’s most affordable zero-emissions vehicle yet and is expected to play a major role, possibly as its highest-volume EV in both the United States and global markets.
The all-new 2025 Cadillac Optiq will be introduced during a special event during which all the details of its configuration for North America and its availability in dealerships will be announced. Like the Cadillac Lyriq and the brand’s other EV models, the new Optiq is based on GM’s Ultium architecture and will be manufactured at a plant in the region – possibly at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

This is going to be an important model for Caddy. This and the Lyriq will sit in a price point the Germans can’t match at the moment.
None of these Cadillac EVs are going to break the 10,000 annual sales mark. The Malibu alone out sold all GM EVs combined last year.
They sold 5,800 Lyriqs in the first quarter. You seriously don’t think they can sell another 4,200 now that they’re not production constrained?
Absolutely can’t wait for the announcement been holding off buying an EV for this!! So excited for this model I think the Optiq is going to become #1 selling EV in the U.S!!
I would put more of my money on the Equinox EV being a better seller. But hopefully this will be one of the better selling premium EVs.
Looking forward to the first test-drive video.
Chinese review video already hit the web over the past few weeks and the feedback is generally good. Expect excellent ride quality just like Lyriq
Hard to feel great about it’s potential success given GM’s problems with getting Ultium based EV’s out into the marketplace.
Well you took the time to notice the issues with the platform now how about take the time to notice what they fixed. It’s quite documented via YouTube sir.
Growing pains dude. Relax. Everyone has them. Even Tesla. The important thing is GM takes the platform and the issues seriously. And it seems they are taking steps to the extreme to make sure the cars come out right.
Look at the first quarter sales and the national inventories. There are tons of Ultium based EVs on lots right now.
That’s gotta e one of best looking EVs out there good job GM/Cadillac. I like this and the equinox EV are amazing so far if I was in the market for a new car I would definitely look at one of these.
Made in Mexico…..why not make it in Springhill Tennessee U.S.A. where the lyric is made and the battery plant is located on the same property.
Agreed Chris…..
FORD has had so much reliability trouble with their vehicles made with $2/hour labor. The Tennessee workers get paid much more and it shows in my LYRIQ. No unexpected difficulties with the basic vehicle….
I’ve had initial troubles with the gobbledygook, but hopefully the OPTIC will be offered in simpler trims to pick up more sales. I’m quite satisfied with my LYRIQ at this point, as I’ve gotten used to the over complications.
But I cast a wary eye toward GM management… They could either make good or bad decisions on this vehicle.
They have learned a lot with the Lryiq so hopefully the debut of this EV has a smoother launch.
The Lryiq is the best EV on the market from comfort, technology, solid ride, and price point.
If this EV maintains those same attributes, it will be very successful.
The biggest opportunity I see for Cadillac is how they create the customer experience. Cadillac needs to drive a consistent experience at its dealerships to compete with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc.
Justin B. That wasn’t the question I asked. I would like to know why GM wants to build this new EV product in Mexico instead of Springhill Tennessee where the Lyrics are already being built?
The Blazer EV is Lyriq-based. The Optiq appears to be EquinoxEV-based. EquinoxEV is Mexico built.
Ramos Arispe and Silo MX plants have produced great quality GM cars and trucks for a long time.
And? The Blazer is built at Ramos Arizpe while the Lyriq is built at Factory Zero.
Actually, Lyriq is built at Springhill Assembly right here in beautiful Springhill Tennessee.
Blazer EV is currently assembled at Ramos Arispe.
An American Standard for the World- made in Mexico.
Thanks, Chris. I apologize for the confusion, I wasn’t replying to your specific question. I started a new comment to share my overall sentiment of the Lryiq and hope their new EV has much success.
Can’t wait! Looks a lot better than the Lyriq. Ideal dimensions too.
Chris I don’t think they have released where the Optiq will be made yet that I’m guessing will be released on the 29th tomorrow.
@UpNorthEV @Chris I for one don’t care where it’s “assembled” the majority of the parts will still be Chinese anyway….it’s not 1955 anymore where a Chevy was purely an American car. Even the Koreans and Toyota use Chinese parts it’s about cost and IMO if they want to assemble cars here they should be part of the union workers…I work for UPS for 26 years and the pay and benefits are great I have no regrets on top of my regular pension I also have a 401k I have nine years to 55 and 35 years and I can retire. Anyway I think unions are a good thing I say build another plant on Mexico I’ll buy the car. it’s funny but no one complains about the current and new equinox being assembled in Mexico mine was assembled in Canada…A FOREIGN COUNTRY!
@GMGUY I have no qualms as to where the Optiq is being built. I was just stating that it was not released as to where it was being built yet. It is actually being built in Mexico as it was released today! I’ll be ordering one as soon as I can!
@UpnorthEV very glad to hear your buying a GM product! 👍🏼👍🏼
@GMGUY I would not be interested in any other vehicles at this moment. I’m looking for a EV and it is either going to be a Cadillac or Chevy! All other EVs are not interesting at all and look very cheap!
Well I am happy to know you work for UPS and you are a member of their union. I am also a union member and work for GM. My comment was on why wouldn’t GM build the new Optic in Springhill Tennessee? They already build the Lyric here and have a difficult time keeping the employees busy because of the low sales volume. To add another product to this assembly plant would help the American workers and surrounding area. Plus there is a brand new battery plant on the same property. The question wasn’t in reference to unions, quality, just plain economics is all.
Chris I agree but in 2024 GM should have a factory in almost every state employing Americans…but how fast we forget that some politicians years ago didn’t give a chance to build a new car plant but the foreign companies came first… that’s wrong in my eyes. You go to Europe BMW MERCEDES, AUDI , VW they all come first before the foreign brands. Oh well let’s see where they build this Caddy.
This vehicle looks to be based off of the Equinox EV and Honda Prologue version of the Ultium platform, so I would expect it to be built in Mexico as well.
Didn’t see this comment when I wrote mine – Did not intend to duplicate. I agree.
The Cadillac Optiq is a great looking car/SUV/whatever and so is the Lyriq, but if Electric Cars were selling, Cadillac wouldn’t be offering a $3,000 rebate on the Lyriq. Cadillac needs to offer a Hyrid to bridge the gap between ICE cars and EV’s. ICE directly to EV is just big of a jump for many traditional Cadillac buyers…like me.
The Cadillac showroom was far more interesting a decade ago. All I see now is clumsy SUVs and poor selling EVs.
Good looking design style too Bad it’s an EV
