AEV Launches 2023+ Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon Snorkel Kit

Way back in October 2022, GM Authority reported on a 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition prototype that sported a then-unannounced AEV-branded snorkel. While the eventual production-spec Canyon AT4X AEV Edition didn’t include said snorkel as standard equipment, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has finally launched the all-terrain feature, and it’s now available for sale with compatible Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon models.

While the snorkel is certainly designed with the Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition and Canyon AT4X AEV Edition in mind, owners may be pleased to learn that any 2023+ Colorado and 2023+ Canyon model equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax can be fitted with the AEV snorkel kit.

It’s worth noting that there are separate kits for the Colorado and Canyon.

Available for $649 on either AEV’s website or as an option from General Motors, the snorkel does require some modification. More specifically, owners have to cut into the body of their midsize pickup truck in order to fit the snorkel through the fender. While AEV does provide a template to assist owners, the off-road-focused company rates the installation as advanced, and even recommends disconnecting AC lines for further ease of installation. The total estimated time of install is somewhere in the seven- to eight-hour range.

Manufactured in the United States with an OEM-like quality, the AEV snorkel kit is made of a UV-stable linear-low polyethylene. AEV claims that this material gives the best combination of strength, UV-resistance and long-term durability, and allows for good thermal stability in both extreme hot and extreme cold environments.

All in, the kit includes the main snorkel body, ram air inlet, all necessary hardware, and the aforementioned cutting template.

As a reminder, both the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon ride on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
