The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD follows the refreshed 2024 model year with a few important updates and changes, the most impactful of which is the launch of the new 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss package. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD will not offer several wheel options that were previously available for the 2024 model year. In total, five wheel designs available for the 2024 model year will be discontinued for the 2025 model year.
The wheels no longer offered with the launch of the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD include (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- 20-inch High Gloss Black painted wheels (RPO code S9O)
- 20-inch 12-spoke Bright Chrome wheels (RPO code Q7G, discontinued in September 2023)
- 20-inch 8-spoke Bright Chrome wheels (RPO code S8A)
- 20-inch multi-dimensional Chrome aluminum wheels (RPO code SKW)
- 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels (RPO code SHL)
Interestingly, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD adds only one new wheel choice to the wheel options list, specifically the 20-inch High Gloss Black painted wheel (RPO code SRI). This new option will be available on the Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels, but will not be offered for the WT or ZR2 trims.
The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD builds on the mid-cycle refresh introduced for the 2024 model year. Key updates include the introduction of the new Trail Boss package, which is available for the LT and LTZ trim levels. This off-road-oriented package includes Z71 shocks and suspension, unique 20-inch black wheels with off-road tires, Trail Boss bed decals, red recovery hooks, blacked-out bumpers, trim, and badging.
Under the hood, you’ll find the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, producing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional, delivering 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 2025 Silverado HD also sees expanded availability of safety features. Adaptive Cruise Control (RPO code KSG) is now standard on the High Country trim, and Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5) is available as an option on WT, Custom, and LT trims, while remaining standard on the High Country.
Production for the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD is scheduled to begin on July 29th, 2024. Production will take place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada. The GM T1 platform once again provides the underpinnings.
