2025 Chevy Silverado HD Custom To Offer New Blackout Package

The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD debuts several significant changes from the refreshed 2024 model year, including new standard tech for some trim levels, a new Silverado HD Trail Boss edition, and more. Now, GM Authority has learned that a new factory-installed Custom Blackout Package (RPO code CWK) will be offered on the Custom trim level of the 2025 Chevrolet pickup as well.

The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD will offer a new Custom Blackout Package. Shown here is the 2024 Silverado HD Custom equipped with the Dark Essentials Package.

Pricing and images for the Custom Blackout Package are not yet available, but the following contents are confirmed to be part of the package (relevant RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • 20-inch High gloss Black painted wheels (SRI)
  • Black badging
  • Black steering wheel emblem
  • Black tailgate lettering with (QK1) tailgate
  • Black bowtie with available (QK2) Multi-flex tailgate

Notably, this is the first time black wheels have ever been available on the HD’s Custom trim level. Additionally, the 20-inch High gloss Black wheels (RPO code SRI) are a new design introduced for 2025 model-year vehicles. The package requires choosing the Black tailgate CHEVROLET lettering decal (RPO code SB7) when the standard tailgate (RPO code QK1) is ordered.

The exception to this is if the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD being ordered is painted in Black (color code GBA), in which case the decal is not required. The Black tailgate CHEVROLET lettering decal is an LPO or dealer-installed option.

Dark Essentials Package

The Custom Blackout Package replaces the LPO or dealer-installed Dark Essentials Package (RPO code PDB) on the Custom trim level of the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD. The Dark Essentials Package can still be optioned on all of the pickup’s other trim levels, including WT, LT, ZR2, LTZ and High Country.

Unlike the Custom Blackout Package, there is no wheel change with the Dark Essentials Package. The images used in this article are of a 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Custom in Red Hot with the Dark Essentials Package installed, since no Custom Blackout images are currently available. The Dark Essentials Package consists of the following:

  • Black Silverado nameplates (RIK)
  • Where applicable, Black Custom/LT/LTZ/High Country badges, LPO
  • Black bowtie (LPO SFZ)
  • Black tailgate CHEVROLET lettering (LPO SB7)

Other changes to the 2025 Silverado HD include the aforementioned Trail Boss package, a trail-ready variant unveiled in January offering extra off-road details and aggressive aesthetic details. Adaptive Cruise Control is now standard on the vehicle’s High Country trim,  the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5) is now offered on more trim levels.

Production is currently scheduled to kick off on July 29th, 2024. The pickup utilizes the GM T1 platform for structure, with production to take place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. Misleading thumbnail image, as that nose is only available on the LTZ and up.
