As anticipated during the model’s official debut, General Motors’ SAIC-GM joint venture in China has just officially launched the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV in the Asian country.

The automaker launched the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV while it simultaneously introduced the model for the first time to the public in China during the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China). The 2025 Equinox Plus arrives to revitalize Chevrolet‘s local portfolio as the first vehicle equipped with SAIC-GM’s next-generation plug-in hybrid system.

“The all-new Equinox Plus embodies Chevrolet’s 90 years of expertise in the SUV field and General Motors’ nearly 30 years of electrification technology advantages. It’s a super product that Chevrolet brings to the market focusing on user needs,” said Zhuang Jingxiong, President of SAIC-GM. “In the future, Chevrolet will unswervingly accelerate its New Energy product rollout and promote a comprehensive brand refresh,” he added.

Notably, the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV is the first variant of Chevrolet’s fourth-generation compact crossover introduced in China to compete in the country’s growing New Energy Vehicle market. The electrified 2025 Equinox Plus is launched in the Chinese market with a total of four versions across range-topping RS and Activ equipment levels, with highly distinctive finishes.

All 2025 Chevy Equinox Plus variants are equipped with a next-generation PHEV powertrain composed of a main electric propulsion unit producing 140 kW or 188 horsepower and 315 Nm or 232 pound-feet of torque, and a new turbocharged 1.5L hybrid engine with 132 kW or 177 horsepower and 250 Nm or 184 pound-feet. The system offers an electric-only range of up to 155 km or 96 miles on a full charge and a combined range of more than 1,000 km or 621.4 miles with the bigger battery pack, and up to 102 km or 63 miles with the smaller battery, according to the China Light-duty vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).

The all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV has just launched and is now available for sale in the official Chevrolet dealer network in China, where units of the fourth-generation Equinox are manufactured exclusively to supply the domestic market of that country. The Equinox Plus variants in RS trim include a 16.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, while the only Activ variant boasts a larger 24.4 kWh battery.

Here is pricing for the four 2025 Equinox Plus variants in China:

  • 2025 Equinox Plus RS Deluxe: 149,900 yuan (about $20,710 USD at current exchange rates)
  • 2025 Equinox Plus RS Flagship: 159,900 yuan (about $22,090 USD)
  • 2025 Equinox Plus RS Ultimate: 169,900 yuan (about $23,470 USD)
  • 2025 Equinox Plus Active Ultimate: 179,900 yuan (about $24,860 USD)

  1. That is one heck of a range, over 600 miles on a full tank(battery and gas).

    1. That is the type of range I would look for in a PHEV. Just can’t get that distance in a pure EV.

      1. Which is why Voltec was such a game changer, but of course idiotic imbecilic lower case gm fumbled in a shambolic fashion. Good thing is they have seen how moronic they were and are pivoting back to PHEVs and hopefully solid standalone hybrid powertrains. They now have the infrastructure to do PHEVs using the Ultium battery systems on modular skateboard platforms.

  2. Now bring it here and build it at Fairfax with a fair price. No more imported Chinese built GM vehicles!

    1. Indeed! But knowing gm they’ll build it in Mexico.

      1. But Canada is ok though right?

        1. Yes it is.

  3. Go cry about it on TikTok (Or Douyin if you prefer the China life).

  4. This would be a good model to start expanding their hybrid lineup in the US. Just about all of the Equinoxes biggest competitors in the US (Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sporage) have hybrid variants and they sell plenty of them.

  5. For your information, “Chevrolet’s 90 years of expertise in the SUV field” is related to the Suburban, the oldest model name still in production of any brand in the world.

  6. Well I really like the look of this new PHEV Equinox and that interior with the different colors that blue looks great…why not offer that on the regular equinox to? If the interiors in the US looked this good people would buy even more Equinoxs especially if they offer the hybrid here in the US! You know what else I’d like to see a hybrid Buick envision with the 2.0t four cylinder!

    1. You want it made here the US? You do realize that the Envision (Invasion) is only made in China don’t you.
Personally I only buy US or CAN built vehicles.

  7. Why was this vehicle not launched in the USA first or at least at the same time by Cheverolet, an American manufacturer. General Motors (Chevrolet) finally gets back in the hybrid game after getting their asses kicked by their competition and they decide to launch their first vehicle in China. Their lack of focus on the American market is really disappointing.

    1. Agreed!!! I think that GM in general is no longer focused on the U.S and is focused on China. They have released so many new vehicles there before the U.S and ones that are not even here or even coming here. Example the Equinox PHEV they have no intent on bringing it to the states. Buick Electra Cadillac GT4 and many other vehicles but all the vehicles are no longer released here first. When they do they have major issues, high prices. China must not have issues, low prices and offer lifetime warranties!! It’s very sad to think an American Automaker forgets who built that company!

  8. No reason this shouldn’t be here in the US as well. Would be a great competitor to the RAV4 Hybrid and Prime and would give the 2.0T crowd the performance they’ve lost since they dropped it.

  9. @GMTech I agree this Equinox PHEV HYBRID should be here selling like hotcakes at McDonald’s on a Friday morning! But really China gets everything first now and car manufacturers wonder why people shop elsewhere for hybrids! Bring this to America GM!

  10. I want this car!
