In January 2024, General Motors officially unveiled the 2025 Chevy Equinox, which features a plethora of upgrades and improvements over the prior generation. With production of the fourth-gen Equinox currently scheduled to kick off in June 2024, GM Authority has learned that the rugged Activ trim level will be unavailable at launch.
Sources familiar with the matter tell GM Authority that the next-gen Chevy Equinox Activ model is currently under a zero-percent constraint, which means that no Activ units will be built when production of the 2025 Equinox commences. Notably, it’s unclear when this constraint will be lifted. That said, Activ units can still be ordered.
As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Equinox Activ boasts a few notable differences from LT and RS trims, including a rugged-looking front fascia that features a unique grille with vertical inserts and gray metallic-finished accents, along with blacked-out badging and an available white roof.
As for rollers, the Equinox Activ rides on an exclusive set of 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.
Moving to the interior, seating surfaces are covered in Chevy’s synthetic leather, branded Evotex, and finished in the Maple Sugar and Black colorway. Heated and ventilated front seats, as well as heated rear outboard seats, are on offer, along with a position memory feature for the driver’s seat. Meanwhile, the Activ logo is embroidered on the headrests of the two front seats.
Under the hood lies the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated at 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in FWD variants, or 203 pound-feet of torque in AWD units. Speaking of drivetrain configurations, FWD units are mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while AWD examples are matched to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission.
In regard to structure, the fourth-gen Equinox is underpinned by an updated variant of the GM D2 platform, which has been stretched in terms of wheelbase, length, and width. Finally, production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

So when is the hybrid hitting stateside?
I don’t understand why it seems to be only GM and Ford (sometimes Hyundai/Kia too) that are constantly having supply issues. Too much focus on unwanted EVs is my best guess.
Exactly. They are hanging on to the supply excuses as long as possible so they can continue to charge these ridiculous prices!! Most everything out there is 5k or more higher than it should be IMO..
When will there be a recall on the 2015 equinox. My engine blew up only 6 1/2 months. Had to pay for a new engine. Excessive oil consumption.
10 years old, 2 models back. No connection.
Sherry unfortunately probably never GM just beat a class action lawsuit. Just get rid of it if you don’t want more problems.
Another can’t deliver promise at launch by lower case gm. Who would have ever thought? Bet someone said, “Wait a minute, we only do black interiors! Who promised this Maple colored stuff?”
