As GM Authority covered back in December 2023, production of the 2025 Cadillac XT4 had been scheduled to commence in June 2024. Now, it appears as though the luxury marque’s entry-level luxury crossover won’t kick off production until the following month.
GM Authority has learned that the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Cadillac XT4 has been pushed back to July 26th, 2024. Of course, this new production start date is tentative in nature and subject to change at any point.
As a reminder, GM Authority also reported that production of the Cadillac XT4 will be paused for much of the 2025 calendar year as the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City is retooled for the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV, which is currently expected to arrive for the 2026 model year.
It’s worth noting that this temporary closure of assembly lines will lead to workforce layoffs at the facility.
In regard to the 2025 XT4 itself, the luxury crossover will receive a few notable updates over the refreshed 2024 model year, including more standard safety features and a revision to the trim lineup. As for the former, the Active Safety Package (RPO code AS2) will now be equipped as standard affair on Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. Featuring a bevy of high-tech goodies, this package is currently offered as a $1,825 option on the 2024 XT4.
Notably, the “base” Luxury trim will also be dropped for the upcoming model year, meaning that the Premium Luxury trim level will serve as the entry-level variant.
Under the hood, the Cadillac XT4 is powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which develops 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This output is routed through the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while both FWD and AWD configurations are available.
As for structure, the XT4 is underpinned by the GM E2 platform, while production takes place solely at the aforementioned GM Fairfax Assembly facility in Kansas City.

Can GM Authority compare this Cadillac XT4 with the oncoming Cadillac Optiq? They are similar in size.
So is their plan to slowly start to reduce malibu production and slam as many XT4s out before they pause production? If they don’t do that I’d imagine there would be a massive shortage once 2025 rolls around and people won’t be happy
I don’t think XT4s are exactly flying off the lots
Treating the XT5 as a stepchild as well as theXT4.I guess I’ll keep my 2023 XT5 till the wheels drop off
I hope they improve the ride on the 2025 XT4, I currently have a 2022 XT4 Luxury and the ride on bumpy, uneven road surfaces is not a luxury tide
TPS of Fairfax is make me remind about GM Korea’s BP2 plant. There is halted car production since december 2022, but can be alternative. E2XX production machinery is still in there.
