2024 GMC Acadia Coupe Rendered As Two-Row Sportback

As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors has been relatively slow to join the rising tide of crossover coupe models, despite enthusiasm from several of GM’s competitors. That said, The General has shown some movement in this space, most notably with the launch of the Buick Envista, a vehicle that could be considered GM’s first crossover coupe. Which leads us to ask – what about other models in GM’s lineup, such as the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia?

The rear end of a GM Authority rendering that imagines the 2024 GMC Acadia as a crossover coupe.

For those who don’t know, the crossover coupe body style incorporates a tall, CUV body with a sloping rear roofline, which gives the vehicle a more elegant, fastback-style profile. European automakers are already well accounted for in the crossover coupe segment, with examples like the BMW X6, Mercedes GLE-Class, and Audi Q8, to name a few.

So what about a GMC Acadia crossover coupe? While GM has no known plans to create such a vehicle, GM Authority went ahead and rendered it anyway, just to see what it might look like.

Our rendering is based on the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia AT4, and includes a sloping rear end profile that totally revamps the crossover’s styling. While the tall stance and rugged appearance of the Acadia AT4 are still in place, the sloping rear end makes the vehicle appear shorter and smaller, which could appeal to some buyers.

If brought to market, this hypothetical GMC Acadia crossover coupe could be called a “Sportback,” and would almost certainly incorporate only two rows of seating in the cabin. As such, the setup could be somewhat analogous to what VW offers with the three-row Atlas and two-row Atlas Sport Cross, the latter of which is essentially a crossover coupe variant of the Atlas.

As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Acadia cradles the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine and rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

All in all, the sleek design and sportier appeal of a GMC Acadia Sportback model could conceivably attract a different segment of buyers who prioritize such things. And while this is all purely speculative, it’s still interesting to think about how the GMC Acadia could evolve to meet changing consumer preferences.

  1. JIMMY, anyone? Actually that’s pretty darn cute. I sawr a new Acadia AT4 in black on the local lot yesterday, it looks tough and ready, didn’t hop out to check the PRICE. Maybe it’s best that way, to keep a dream alive.

This rendering is seriously a lot more complete and believable than some I’ve seen here. For me, I’d like the overall size of the regular Acadia, but feel the third row is not necessary, and even a hindrance to daily use. Something like this would allow them to get more variants on the same platform.

    2. Looks like a more mature and better looking Aztek

      1. The side profile is essentially the Aztek, as is most crossover “sport backs” today.

  2. So you made a SUV with even less cargo space than the short version?

To do this right you need a car style front end like BMW and Benz.

Oh wait we have a Blazer already……Camaro style nose and dash. Funny how it sells better than the Camaro.

  5. Good idea! Just underscores that GM could use a 2-row midsize crossover based on the Traverse/Acadia/Enclave that is larger than the Equinox/Terrain/Envision.

  6. Yes – Please show this to someone at GM with a Brain !!! I have a little older Tahoe and looked for over a year to find one WITHOUT the third row of seating … NO kids at home and I do not drive a “School bus.”
I have been looking to purchase a new Tahoe / Yukon and cannot find where they can even be ordered with only 2 rows of seats … GM – please wake up – not everyone wants or needs 3 rows .. I don’t want them taking up space in the garage either !

This seems like a potential answer to a question that GM does not seem to understand !!!

    2. Just keep the rear seat folded, problem solved, it is flat and hidden…

  8. These “coupe crossovers” drive me NUTS. What is the point? That is NOT sporty , nor a coupe and is totally absurd.

    1. They’ve destroyed the utility of sedans with “coupe-like” styling. Why not small cross-overs?

  9. I like it. One of GMAuthority’s better speculative renderings. Drop in the H.O. 2.7L turbo with the 2.5L as the standard motor. Denali and AT4 trims available, with the AT4 having high angle of attack/departure bumper designs.

  14. OMG that is not a 2 door coupe…thats a suv box with a slanted back…anything to sell it to the gullible morons that thinks its a “coupe”…a coupe with 2 doors, is a Camaro, CTS coupe, Cutlass, Regal..that is another suv box with a wheezy 4 cylinder engine, probably costing way more than $50k…uh no thanks, ill keep my CTS
