General Motors has released a recall for certain units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 due to an issue related to the driver-side front airbag cushion.
The problem: affected vehicles may have a condition where a tear or small hole can develop in the driver-side front airbag upon deployment, which may then degrade the airbag’s overall performance in the event of an accident.
The hazards: if the airbag cushion were to decrease the airbag’s performance, then occupants may be at an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected vehicles and replace the driver-side front airbag module at no charge to the owner.
Affected components: Driver-side front airbag cushion.

Owners should: General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles via notification letters by June 17th, 2024 and instruct them to make an appointment with their local GM dealer. As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 is offered with either the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission serves as the only transmission available, while FWD is equipped as standard and AWD is optional.
Under the skin lies the GM C1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
