2024 Cadillac XT4 Recalled For Noncompliant Park Lamp Function

The General has issued a Noncompliance Recall which applies to certain units of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 along with some midsize pickup models. These crossovers were built with a park lamp function that is noncompliant with federal safety regulation, specifically Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108. A remedy is also offered.

The problem: the taillights, license plate light, and side marker lamps will turn off at night or in other dark conditions when the driver of an affected 2024 Cadillac XT4 moves the master light control to Off from Auto, but the parking lamps will remain illuminated.

The hazards: according to safety standards from the federal government, the taillights, license plate light, and side marker lamps of a vehicle must remain illuminated whenever the parking lamps are also illuminated. Since those lights can switch off while the parking lamps of affected Cadillac XT4 units are still on, the crossover is noncompliant with safety regulations.

The fix: reprogramming the Body Control Module (BCM) of an affected XT4 will result in correct, compliant light function. No new components are needed to complete the fix.

• 2024 Cadillac XT4
• 2024 GMC Canyon

Number of affected vehicles: the number of vehicles included in the recall, either of individual models or the overall total, is unknown at this point.

As a reminder, 2024 Cadillac XT4 launched a refresh of the crossover model, including new exterior styling, updates to the cockpit, and new tech features. The model incorporates as standard more than a dozen safety features as part of the refresh. The interior now sports a 33-inch, 9K-resolution LED color touchscreen in the style of the Cadillac Lyriq.

A single powerplant choice provides motivation, specifically the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission for cog swaps.

Production of the 2024 XT4 takes place at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas.
