The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is the second model year for the EV crossover marque and introduces a few updates and changes compared to the 2023 model. It also includes an assortment of drive modes to help optimize its performance in a range of different circumstances.
GM Authority details the advantages of each specific drive mode below. The driver of a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq can access and change drive modes by using the central infotainment home screen and navigating to the Drive Mode App. There are four drive modes in total for the Lyriq, including Tour Mode, Sport Mode, Snow/Ice Mode, and the customizable My Mode.
Now, let’s check out the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq drive modes.
Tour Mode
Tour Mode is intended to be used in normal, everyday conditions when driving the Cadillac Lyriq. It is intended for use on clear pavement, whether on city streets or on the highway, in good or moderate weather. The mode provides a comfortable ride while giving the driver decent handling characteristics during vehicle use.
Sport Mode
For a more fun, hard-charging, sporty experience, Sport Mode shifts the Lyriq away from everyday comfort toward more precise handling and higher performance. Dry-asphalt acceleration and handling both get a boost in this mode, enhancing the steering and tuning the pedal response. To make the experience more exciting, it creates appropriate simulated engine noises in the cabin via electric vehicle sound enhancement, though it remains just as quiet on the outside.
Snow/Ice Mode
Snow/Ice Mode is meant to be switched on when winter roads are slick with snow, slush, or ice. Using it during warm, dry weather can result in poorer acceleration. The mode alters pedal response and steering in order to give better control on snowy pavement. It is not intended for use once the Lyriq is already bogged down in snow or mud.
My Mode
My Mode enables the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq owner to create a customized driving mode, tailored to their tastes within the available parameters. The user can pick different combinations of acceleration response, brake pedal feel, simulated motor sound inside the cabin, and the responsiveness of the crossover’s steering and suspension.
Available adjustments under My Mode are as follows:
Acceleration Feel | Brake Feel | Steering | Motor Sound | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Relaxed | X | - | - | - |
Tour | X | X | X | X |
Sport | X | X | X | X |
Off | - | - | - | X |
The Lyriq will stay in Tour, Sport, or My Mode when it is turned off and then restarted later. However, if it is placed in Snow/Ice Mode or any other mode besides Tour Mode, Sport Mode, and My Mode, it will switch back to Tour Mode when it is shut down and then restarted later.
Velocity Mode
Velocity Mode is an additional driving mode that Cadillac has made available on the Lyriq as an option that can be purchased for $1,200. The mode is installed via over-the-air (OTA) update, and replaces Sport Mode, though it retains most of the same functions. Velocity Mode enhances dry-pavement acceleration by providing an additional 74 pound-feet of torque.
According to GM, the power difference can be felt, and Velocity Mode reduces zero to 60 mph times from 4.7 seconds to 4.4 seconds, under optimal conditions.

As a reminder, the all-electric luxury crossover is underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform beneath the body panels, while GM Ultium batteries are mated to GM Ultium Drive motors for motivation.

Comments
I hope you can turn off the fake engine sound in all mode.
Why does a Cadillac electric vehicle need any engine noise? My uncle’s 1960 Deville was so quiet that you could fall asleep with very little engine or external noise. All Cadillacs should be reducing noises, not making fake ones!
I was told the velocity mode is no longer available until over the air issues are fixed. Can you confirm this?
You are correct, I own a Cadillac Lyriq and according to Onstar Velocity mode and themes, will return in the coming months while they hash out OTA updates.
