General Motors launched the high-performance Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing for the 2022 model year, offering up the most track-worthy production vehicle to ever wear the Cadillac crest. With a supercharged heartbeat and standard six-speed manual transmission, the CT5-V Blackwing promises a visceral driving experience, plus plenty of that Cadillac luxury and style that fans have come to expect. Now, GM Authority is breaking down the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing production numbers, including exterior color and transmission type.
The figures come to us via the just-launched Cadillac Society Podcast that you can watch above. In total, GM produced 10,574 units of the Cadillac CT5 for the 2022 model year. Of those 10,574 units, 1,763 were examples of the CT5-V Blackwing.
Looking at those 1,763 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing units, we find that 770 were equipped with the standard six-speed transmission, or 43.7 percent. Meanwhile, 993 units were equipped with the optional GM 10-speed automatic, or 56.3 percent.
As for exterior colors, the vast majority of 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing units were finished in Black Raven (paint code GBA), with 578 units accounting for 32.8 percent of the total production run for the year. Summit White (paint code GAZ) was the second most-popular exterior color with 231 units, or 13.1 percent. The rest of the paint options were represented by less than 10 percent of the total production run for 2022, with the least popular color being Blaze Orange Metallic at 74 units, or 4.2 percent.

Nice breakdown and great to see Alex provide his perspective in the podcast. Thanks guys!
I ordered a 2022 ct4 Blackwing in January, do you know the production numbers on those?
It’s crazy that Blaze Orange Metallic had the lowest take rate. That color with the tech bronze wheels is out of this world.
Keep them coming, now if we could filter out those greedy dealers who want to take advantage of the public.
A production run of 10,000 cars back in the day would be the end of that car.
Look no further than the Camaro for the truth in that statement. At over 20k annual sales, it was given the axe for poor sales numbers. Here’s a thought GM … maybe you should have listened to the people that were actually buying them and what they complained about, then actually FIX those things (primarily visibility) and sales would have been restored. Instead, you ignored the buzz and made it uglier in 2019 (except the ZL-1) and sales began to fall off. It usually makes sense that when you’re an auto manufacturer, you listen to the consumers buying/not buying your product when they tell you their problems with the car, and/or listen to the reason why they AREN’T buying your car, to see if you can remedy the problems and gain market share in the near future. No, GM engineers and designers were too proud of their creation to change any visibility issues … other than how ugly it became in 2019! Just goes to show how much more profitable the Cadillac is.
Also a bit surprised at the take rate of both the manual(vs auto) and the BW(vs regular or plain V). The BW is almost 20% of total sales. I’ve a gen 2 V and I don’t remember the take rate on the V’s being 20%. It has been awhile, but thought it was more like 5% of the total were V’s. And you saw the gen 2’s everywhere. I occasionally see the 5’s, but not nearly as often. It is a pity the sedan is all but dead, but makers make what people buy. The 10K number is tiny. And I know my dealer has some in stock, so they are available.
Will you be able to obtain the 2024 numbers. I have a CT5-V (not a Blackwing) AWD and would like to know how many have been produced.
Yes, we are working on getting 2024 figures. Alas, this takes some time. The best I can do right now is to tell you to stay tuned.
