You Can Buy Anthony Mantella’s Corvette Z06 GT3.R Race Car

Anthony Mantella, a Canadian-born race car driver who most recently competed in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, has put his No. 17 Corvette Z06 GT3.R race car on the market.

The No. 17 Vette race car is prepared by Pratt Miller Motorsports, and has seen minimal on-track action this season. “Used very infrequently,” Mantella Autosport wrote on a social media post. “Hasn’t finished a race. Perfect for the collector who wants the latest from Pratt and Miller / Corvette Racing.”

The post also notes that the No. 17 Corvette Z06 GT3.R isn’t perfect, but that it’s “unobtanium to the public,” meaning that it’s extremely difficult for the layman to get hands on a race car such as this.

While it’s not clear why Mantella wants to part ways with the No. 17 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, it’s worth noting that the driver recently stepped away from his racing team, AWA, after just two races in the 2024 IMSA season. At Daytona, the No. 17 Corvette race car suffered electrical issues, followed by an alternator failure at Sebring. The team had to head to the garage and was unable to complete both races, so it’s possible that Mantella sees no future with Corvette Racing.

Plans for the No. 17 Corvette in the wake of Mantella’s departure from AWA aren’t clear, but it’s unlikely that this entry will compete in the forthcoming IMSA event at Long Beach on April 19th through April 20th, 2024. Meanwhile, the second AWA entry, the No. 13 Corvette, will be entered in this race.

In a post on social media, announced Mantella’s departure on March 25th, stating, “Anthony Mantella has elected to step away from the GTD program at this moment in time. The No. 13 car will continue to proceed as planned and will be present at the upcoming round in Long Beach.”

  1. Beautiful, but I wouldn’t own it (if I could afford it). Doesn’t sound like it was built or tested well.

    1. It’s a brand new car designed to GT3 specs with a new team running it. At Sebring, the second race of the season, the team got the car fixed but Mantella decided to pull the plug way early rather than using the rest of the race to insure everything was sorted and ready for the next 9 races. Obviously he wasn’t fully committed to the team right from the start! Sucks for the drivers and crew (and fans!) when an impatient owner throws a hissy fit and takes his ball home. Safe to say he would not be welcomed back in IMSA even if wanted it. Hopefully the sister car will prove worthy of podiums and a possible championship.
