Xfinity NASCAR Chevy Teams Fall Short At Martinsville April 2024: Video

Occasionally, the NASCAR Xfinity series ups the ante with the Dash 4 Cash, giving eligible drivers a chance to win $100,000 for winning a race. Unfortunately, while several NASCAR Chevy teams had a shot at the win and the grand prize, they just couldn’t outrun the No. 20 Toyota TRD Supra of Aric Almirola across the line at Martinsville on April 6th, 2024.

Sam Mayer, driver of the No. 1 Chevy Camaro SS, had possibly the best shot at taking down Almirola in the closing laps. However, the No. 20 Supra ran off with the lead. A last-lap caution seemed to even the playing field, but as Almirola had taken the white flag already, the caution flag ended the race, sealing Mayer’s second-place fate and putting the $100,000 in Almirola’s pocket.

Chandler Smith, who won last weekend’s race at Richmond in the No. 81 Supra, finished third, followed by Carson Kvapil, driver of the No. 88 Camaro in fourth – an excellent showing for his first-ever Xfinity Series outing. Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 Camaro wrapped up the top five. Meanwhile, Sammy Smith, who led 42 laps in the No. 8 NASCAR Chevy, wound up seventh.

Overall, there were 11 cautions (just like in the Truck Series race), accounting for 68 laps.

This coming weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Mayer is eligible for the Dash 4 Cash, alongside Allgaier, Sheldon Creed in the No. 18 Supra, and Chandler Smith.
